👏Join us in welcoming Nate Libby, Lewiston’s new Assistant Director for Economic and Community Development. 👏 In his new role, Nate will collaborate closely with City leadership and community partners to develop and execute strategies to support Lewiston’s economic growth and vitality. He will also lead special development projects, support a wide range of economic development initiatives, and connect the City to developers, business incubators, state and federal funders and regulators, and community partners. 👏Nate brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. Prior to joining the Lewiston team, he served as President of the Community Concepts Finance Corporation (CCFC), where he led the Lewiston-based $15M financial services organization in the wake of significant pandemic-related challenges. He concurrently served as President of Community Concepts, Inc. (CCI) Housing Development, overseeing a $35M affordable housing portfolio in Western Maine. 👏Nate also previously represented Lewiston in the Maine State Legislature for ten years and served as Senate Majority Leader. While serving in Augusta, he was a self-employed economic development consultant cultivating expertise in tax increment financing (TIF) district creation and management, grant writing and administration, and community development planning. 👏Nate is also no stranger to Lewiston municipal government having served as a Lewiston City Councilor, Council Liaison to the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council, and championed the first-in-Maine universally accessible playground in Lewiston where children and families of all abilities may play alongside each other. This 20,000 Sq. ft. Goodwill store, located in the Pottstown Plaza shopping center, is the 6th largest in the region, brings 32 new jobs, and will redirect over 20K tons of goods that could have been sent to landfills. The opening was timely, coinciding with the national celebration of Earth Week 2024, April 22-26. “Donations to Goodwill provide affordable goods to the community, contribute to reducing landfill waste and have a profound impact on lives. Today, Port of Whitman County Commission accepted the Washington State Department of Commerce's Child Care Partnership Grant for its childcare project in Colfax.
