Today is a happy but controversial anniversary! On this day in 2007 the Gran Fiesta Tour opened in EPCOT. Replacing the El Rio Del Tiempo ride was very controversial as it added IP to a much loved ride for the first time in World Showcase! This is how I felt yesterday, in my chef Minnie era ➡️ swipe for the end result. It was for my Dad’s birthday, we invited close friends and family and was a complete surprise for him. His favourite park is Epcot so we had an Epcot party, all his favourite foods from the countries and I got to give some of my Funkos a day out too 😂 The Funkos I used were ones that actually make appearances in the countries, spaceship earth is actually a giant cookie jar and from WDW. Eating the World Day 2 dinner in Epcot - eating (and drinking 😉) from as many countries as I could! Crab wontons from 🇨🇳 - definitely the worst thing I had at Epcot (not counting the water). Too much batter, not enough filling Lamb sausage, spiked mint tea, and assorted pastries from 🇲🇦 - a really good sausage with tasty chickpea accompaniment. Delicious pastries, though the almond cookie was a bit dry for my taste Tamal and a lager from 🇲🇽 - this was the single best thing I ate at Disney World. Moist and tender, with a perfectly pickled onion and a delicious crema. Fantastic little bite Shrimp arrabiata from 🇮🇹 - really good. Ton of shrimp and some actual spice to the sauce. Totally forget what the other dish was called (was a few 🍸 in at that point), but it was fantastic! Assorted pastries from 🇫🇷 (Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie) - the eclair and ham and cheese croissant were truly excellent, well made pastries. The eclair had the right amount of filling without being overly sugary. Mexico always comes through with gluten-friendly items at the Epcot festivals. I begged Chef Ernesto to bring us back a delicious flan, and he did. All three items, the Sope de Chilorio, Tamale de Rajas, and the Flan de Guayaba are gluten-friendly as is. They all contain dairy. You can only omit dairy on the Sope de Chilorio by removing the crema Mexicana and the queso fresco. Some of the architecture at Epcot is amazing. I love that I went as an adult cause it makes you appreciate the concept of Epcot bringing together the whole world with several different cultures. In all the country’s they had workers actually from those country’s. That concept is just amazing to me because that’s how you properly represent a place.
