Covid has made vacationing tough and it is no different with camping. With limited campsites & reservations open, planning trips has been more of a challenge. This past weekend I was able to try dispersed camping @sequoianationalforest and it made perfect sense with the current reality of Covid. Dispersed camping allows camping outside of developed areas, which means more raw, untamed, & secluded spaces to experience the wilderness. This in conjunction with camping out of my Subaru made for an ideal outdoors experience #Publicland #LeaveNoTrace #DispersedCamping #CovidReality #Boondocking #ExplorerJerr #whyihike #backpackingadventures #optoutside #backpackerlife #Sequioannationalpark #wanderlust #vanlifers #ontheroad #exploreMore #fulltimetravel #peoplewhoadventure #welivetoexplore #wildernessnation #nationalpark #travelnurselife #hikingtheglobe #wethriveoutdoors #getoutside #keepitwild #keepexploring #lifeofadventure #camping #kingscanyon #kingscanyonnationalpark

🐻🐻🐻 ALERT!! Few weekends ago we had a bear at our neighbor’s campsite. Disappointingly it was too dark to see at midnight but we were rewarded this weekend @sequoiakingsnps by this beauty!! #ExplorerJerr #whyihike #backpacking #hike #diversifytheoutdoors #optoutside #travelblogger #backpacker #wanderlust #vanlifers #ontheroad #exploreMore #fulltimetravel #peoplewhoadventure #welivetoexplore #wildernessnation #brownbear #nationalpark #Backcountry #travelnurselife #hikingtheglobe #wethriveoutdoors #getoutside #keepitwild #keepexploring #lifeofadventure

I **WATCH FULL SCREEN TO VIEW CAPTIONS** First & foremost thank y’all for the LOVE & feedback on my previous video.. y’all inspired & motivated me to stop procrastinating & make another trip happen! So this is dedicated to everyone that reached out!! Canyon Creek Trail is a 17 mile out & back hike. I left my home Thursday afternoon, reached the trailhead around 7pm. I camped out of my car Thursday night at the trailhead parking lot to start my hike bright & early Friday morning. Took me close to 6 hours to reach the lake. I set up camp on the lake bed & explored Friday. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, I was able to sleep without the rain cover over my tent.. as a result I had an amazing view of the stars, that was a BREATHTAKING experience! Saturday morning I left camp around 7am to finish the hike around 11am. It was a challenging trip, nonetheless that is what maked it so sweet. #ExplorerJerr #travelblogger #wanderlust #vanlifers #vanliving #livingsmall #BrownPeopleCamping #ontheroad #exploreMore #fulltimetravel #projectvanlife #whyihike #optoutside #peoplewhoadventure #welivetoexplore #wildernessnation #travelnurselife #hikingtheglobe #wethriveoutdoors #getoutside #keepitwild #keepexploring #lifeofadventure #seekthetrails #vanlife #travelnurse #backpacking #backcountry #nomadlife #nomad

My first solo backpacking trip- Union Peak Trail in Crater Lake, Oregon. This was a 10 mile out and back hike, done almost a year ago...I just never got around to posting it. If you enjoyed this or learned something from it, let me know and I will share similar videos from my other trips. #ExplorerJerr #travelblogger #wanderlust #vanlifers #vanliving #livingsmall #vanlifesociety #ontheroad #exploreMore #fulltimetravel #projectvanlife #whyihike #optoutside #peoplewhoadventure #welivetoexplore #wildernessnation #travelnurselife #hikingtheglobe #wethriveoutdoors #getoutside #keepitwild #keepexploring #lifeofadventure #seekthetrails #vanlife #travelnurse #backpacking #backcountry #nomadlife #nomad

January 2020 I Badwater Basin - The white you see is not snow but TABLE SALT! (verified by my taste buds) - Here is more information from @deathvalleynps: At 282 ft below sea level Badwater Basin is home to the lowest point in North America. Exposed land below sea level is possible due to the extremely dry climate. - The source of Badwater’s salts is Death Valley’s drainage system of 9,000 square miles—an area larger than New Hampshire. Rain falling on distant peaks creates floods that rush ever lower. Along the way, minerals dissolve from rocks and join the flood. Here, at the lowest elevation, floods come to rest, forming temporary lakes. As the water evaporates, minerals concentrate until only the salts remain. After thousands of years, enough salts have washed in to produce layer upon layer of salt crust. - PROTIP: If you want to avoid 100+ degree weather visit during the winter months! It was a comfortable 60 degrees (F) during my visit. #ExplorerJerr

#GearReview Before backpacking I wasn’t sure how to fit everything into my pack, especially my sleeping bag. The answer? COMPRESSION STUFF SACK! Check the time-lapse and you’ll be impressed. Another essential item in there is the yellow @thermarest sleeping pad I am on. How many of you have went camping only to freeze at night? I certainly have...the sleeping pad will not only help create a cushion but minimize the body heat you’ll loose to the ground. Additionally you’ll want to get a sleeping bag rated for cold weather, I was waking up to frozen frost on my tent at Crater Lake, but thanks to my @rei zero degrees sleeping bag and pad I slept very comfortably. #ExplorerJerr

First backpacking trip, what an adventure and learning experience it was to say the least…Hiked 4+ miles gaining around 3000 ft in elevation with 25+ lbs on my back, setup camp, celebrated too soon (drinking), hiked an additional mile to Ingalls Lake, lost my phone, face planted the ground retracing my steps (blame the buzz), busted my lip, injured my wrist, hips, and knee, @sebwolken found my phone, got lost with little day light remaining, rock climbed down back to the trail (SKETCHYYY), very little sleep thanks to vicious winds, woke up rewarded by mountain goats surrounding our camp! Gotta say rock climbing down could’ve easily created a mental breaking point but shout out to each of us for enduring the challenge and literally overcoming a HUGE obstacle! #ExplorerJerr

How ironic..I had to move out of Texas to see my first wild rattlesnake. I’ve been looking forward to this; I used to have a fear of snakes but nowadays they fascinate me. So intriguing to observe them..a few weeks ago I came across a nonvenomous bullsnake, the difference in their behavior is incredible. The rattler was much more agile and offensive. Check out the two videos and see for yourself. #Rattlesnake #ExplorerJerr

Growing up in Houston these were more of vacations, thankfully it is very accessible now. As a result I’ve started preparing (i.e. kettlebell) for my first backcountry hike...learning so much. Excited to share the journey! #ExplorerJerr
