How do we sum up our weekend stay in St Mawes? Well firstly, we stayed in the stunning Rose Cottage provided by @classic_cottages. This set us up in the heart of St Mawes, a perfect location that is only a few minutes walking distance to all the local amenities, whilst also offering up panoramic views across the Percuil River across to St Anthony’s Headland and the lovely beach’s of St Mawes. The balcony at Rose cottage was a blissful spot to sit and watch the world go by, with gig rowers passing and the ebb and flow of fishing boats and the Fal Ferry. Enjoying time inside the house was just as good as the Cornish rain made an appearance, having a wonderfully homely feel and wood log burner. St Mawes itself has an abundance of character, with cosy pubs and shops full of local produce, fantastic restaurants with delicious freshly caught sea food and of course tranquil walks along the waters edge. Of course the reason we were here in St Mawes was because of the @roselandfestival which was filled with activities for all ages and interests. From walks with the Roseland Rangers to hearty belly laughs with the Miracle Theatre’s Quiz night, it had it all! The upper reaches of the Fal Estuary have limited public access, so this area will be providing a new community resource for people to connect with nature in this inspiring habitat. These Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) woodlands are classified as temperate rainforest which is an incredibly rare habitat, rarer than the tropical rainforests. The types of trees planted will replicate the species within the existing woodland and over time help to grow this endangered habitat.
