After a terrible day yesterday, (today doesn't look much better) I thought I'd take a look back at my photos from last week 😎. It hasn't taken long for the thrift and gorse to bloom, now the weather has warmed up. I love this time of year when everything is coming into flower. Sometimes things work out exactly as you dreamed they would. This photo was taken exactly a year after I sent this message to my friend - 20th April 2021 - and it’s a pretty spooky coincidence! As you can see from the screenshot, we were at the start of the pandemic and I remember this conversation with my friend so clearly. I took a screenshot of it at the time to remind myself of the ‘goal’ I’d set myself. Both of these photos showed up the other day on my memories for the 20th April and I thought it was pretty amazing. April 2020 I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, I just knew I really wasn’t happy & was panicked about the future. April 2021 I was mid lockdown in Cornwall with a wonderful person, my person, who I couldn’t have imagined meeting in a million years. I was actually ‘in a place’ where I knew ‘things were going on the right path’. And that’s pretty amazing. Yes we can’t work out everything and I’ve still got lots to work out, but the incredible change between these two photos, just a year apart, is remarkable and I’m so grateful for all the decisions and luck that took me on that path. We are on our holiday in Cornwall this week, and staying at a dog friendly lodge in Helston, booked through Sykes Holiday Cottages. Our cabin is called Pol Glas Cabin, and there is about 5 cabins tucked away behind a local farm, in a small village called Cury. One of the main reasons for booking this cabin was because of the obvious reason that it is indeed, dog friendly! But can we all just take a moment to appreciate this amazing view from our enclosed garden😍 This is was a huge selling point for us, as we love secluded and quiet areas to enjoy some well deserved down time. Plus, a gorgeous hot tub for us pawrents to relax in, overlooking these gorgeous views!!🥂 We are about 20 minutes from Lizard Point, 15 minutes from Helston and 10 minutes from Mullion village. One of the hardest parts of living in London for me is the lack of beaches and water. I grew up with the Great Lakes on my doorsteps and then moved to NYC, with the Atlantic Ocean at my doorstep. I know London isn’t more than a few hours from the nearest shoreline, but there are days that I just wish the beach was once again a short distance away. I’ve spent the past four days exploring Cornwall and it made me so happy to just be constantly near the water. Did you know that every year, 5000 rubber ducks are released from Looe Bridge into the river! 🐤 As bizarre as it sounds, the Grand Looe River Duck Race has become a well-loved tradition here in Looe for both locals and tourists who visit for the special day. Tickets can be bought for each duck and participants can win up to £1000! 🎉 All of the ducks are then collected nearby to the RNLI station.
