Last Saturday we walked from Cleveleys to Fleetwood on the Fylde Coast path. It was on the beach again the whole way passing the striking Mary’s shell sculpture and on to the harbour town of Fleetwood where you can take a small ferry to Knott-End-on-Sea. We had views over to Morecombe and Cumbria where we are looking forward to walking one day. Then it was an exciting first trip on a tram, Baz got lots of fuss and everyone said what a lovely, well behaved boy he was. Last weekend we completed the Fylde Coast path which runs from Lytham to Fleetwood. This also forms part of the Lancashire Coastal Way which is a 137 mile long distance trail from Merseyside to Cumbria and of course it is also part of the England coast path! Our first walk was from Lytham passing the striking white Windmill on the green beside the promenade. The path is very flat, easy walking through Lytham St Anne’s and on to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie schön diese Wanderung werden würde (auch wenn ich es mir natürlich gewünscht habe). 😍 Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie anstrengend sie sein würde (auch wenn ich natürlich darüber gelesen hatte). 🥵 Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie sehr sich dadurch meine ganze Einstellung zu mir selbst, zu meinem Körper und zum Leben verändern würde. 💪 Und ich hatte keine Ahnung, dass es KEINE einmalige Sache bleiben würde... 🙈 Alles, was ich hatte, war ein ausgefeilter Plan, ein klein bisschen Angst und viel zu viele Müsliriegel im Rucksack. 🎒 Dass das alles jetzt ein Jahr her sein soll, glaub ich irgendwie immer noch nicht so ganz... 😱 Meine Wanderung am South West Coast Path wird für mich immer was ganz Besonderes bleiben. Ein erstes Mal eben. 🌊 Aber kein letztes Mal. SWCP Instow, more boats left for the tide to consume, yet so close to the Instow Yacht club, it seems almost criminal. Walking through Instow is definitely a highlight of this section of the coast path, with its nod to the past, in the form of the Instow railway station. Opened in November 1855, the station closed to passengers in 1965, but the line remained open for freight until 1982. The signal box has been preserved as a working attraction. The Atlantic Coast Express used to go through the station on its way to Torrington. In some years, longer trains extended to Eastleigh and Yeovil. After a terrible day yesterday, (today doesn't look much better) I thought I'd take a look back at my photos from last week 😎. It hasn't taken long for the thrift and gorse to bloom, now the weather has warmed up. I love this time of year when everything is coming into flower. The newly grown leaves, are a special vibrant green 💚 and seeing these flowers against the blue 💙 of the sky and sea is just beautiful. I'm sure the sun 🌞 will be back soon 🤔😍. The bay was full of seals basking in the sunshine, and as we wandered along the coast, they would bob their heads up before swimming off again. I don’t have a route to share with this one, we just wandered along the coastal path towards Bridlington, you could easily head in the opposite direction towards Filey. It was nice to not follow an exact route, but to just ramble along. Earlier this week, Ross and I enjoyed a couple of days in Northumberland. The weather was typically British! Despite the mizzly rain there were some moments of sunshine to inspire my creative process. We stayed in Warkworth at the gorgeous Fairfield House B&B and walked the Northumberland Coastal Path from Cresswell back to Warkworth. 38,000 steps, if anyone is interested!
