Emergency Rule 5CER24-4 imposes the following temporary restrictions: No cattle exposed to or infected with Bovine Associated Influenza A Syndrome may be imported into Florida. No lactating dairy cattle from states with suspected or confirmed cases of Bovine Associated Influenza A Syndrome may be imported into Florida. Non-lactating dairy cattle from states with suspected or confirmed cases must be accompanied by a valid Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection completed no more than 10 days prior to importation. “Florida is at lower risk for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in domestic livestock as we are net exporters of cattle and import few lactating dairy cattle,” said Dr. Michael Short, State Veterinarian and Director of the Division of Animal Industry. “This emergency rule is yet another layer of security that Commissioner Wilton Simpson is putting into place to protect the health of Florida’s livestock and poultry.” 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "FDACS Emergency Rule to Protect Fla. Governor Kathy Hochul and representatives from The Coca-Cola Company and fairlife today marked the groundbreaking on a new fairlife production facility, a $650 million investment in the Town of Webster, Monroe County. The 745,000 square-foot facility, being built on Tebor Road, will serve as fairlife’s flagship Northeast location and is expected to be operational by Q4 of 2025. Empire State Development is providing up to $21 million in assistance for the fairlife project through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program and the New York Power Authority is providing nearly 8.5 MW of low-cost ReCharge NY power in exchange for the job creation commitments. The company selected New York following a personal pitch from Governor Hochul due to the invaluable assistance from government and community partners and the state’s world-renowned reputation as an agribusiness global leader with an unparalleled, innovative dairy community. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Monroe County Industrial Development Agency, the Town of Webster, Rochester Gas and Electric, and Greater Rochester Enterprise were also instrumental in bringing the company to New York State. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Governor Hochul and The Coca-Cola Company Celebrate Groundbreaking of New fairlife Production Facility” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #fairlife @fairlife

The date was December 16, 1893. The setting was Carnegie Music Hall in New York City. To rapturous applause, Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, titled “From the New World” had just premiered and the audience gave an overwhelmingly positive reception to the work. The piece would become Dvořák’s most renowned piece of music. Little did the audience know that the composer had put the finishing touches on this masterpiece several months earlier in the small farm town of Spillville, Iowa. In the summer of 1893, the composer spent three months in Spillville and the region and its people ended up having a profound effect on him enabling him to compose some of his most enduring music. Antonin Dvořák was born September 8, 1841, in Nelahozeves, Bohemia in what is today the Czech Republic. Dvořák was the son of a butcher and his family also operated an inn out of their home. Though several family members were good amateur musicians, it became apparent that young Antonin possessed considerable musical abilities. As a young man, Dvořák lived in Prague studying at the Prague Organ School and later working as a professional violist, organist, and teacher in various capacities while also composing original works. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Art Imitates Life: Antonin Dvořák’s Summer Vacation in Iowa” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said, “While we have not seen any cases of HPAI in livestock here in New York State, we’re monitoring the situation closely and are in communication with our farmers, veterinarians, and partners at USDA and in other states. The temporary import requirements we’ve put into place will help us to ensure that animals coming into New York are healthy and are not from affected premises, so that our animals here in New York can continue to remain safe. We encourage our farmers to continue practicing good biosecurity and to stay in touch with us and their veterinarians as the situation evolves.” The temporary import requirements for dairy cattle into New York State are: importation of dairy cattle from a premises with a confirmed case of HPAI or a premises under investigation as a suspect premises is prohibited; dairy cattle imported from affected states must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within 10 days prior to entry into the state; and CVIs issued for dairy cattle from affected states must include the statement: “All animals identified on the Certificate of Veterinary (CVI) have been examined and do not originate from a premises with a confirmed detection of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or that is currently under investigation as a suspect premises.” 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Temporary Import Requirements for Dairy Cattle Coming Into New York” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

On this #falshbackfriday we are learning about migrant workers and the Bracero Program. Migrant workers constitute a large segment of the American agricultural workforce. Many of these workers come from Mexico, and the Bracero Program is an important marker in the history of American agricultural labor. The Bracero Program was the largest guest worker program in United States history and several of its legacies are still felt in American agriculture today. The Spanish term bracero literally means “a man who works with his arms,” and depending on the setting meant “field hand” or “manual laborer.” In the early 1900s border crossings between Mexico and the United States for work and visitation were frequent and largely unhindered due to a lack of border enforcement. A sizable population of Mexican immigrants came to the U.S. because of political, economic, and social unrest that occurred during the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920). Some growers in the Southwest grew to rely on Mexican labor to work their fields during this time. When the U.S. entered World War I in 1917, an agreement with Mexico was instituted allowing growers in the U.S. to contract braceros to work in their fields to alleviate labor shortages caused by the war. The disruption of the food supply chain during the first few years of #COVID made Americans aware of how critical the ability to move agricultural products reliably, safely and efficiently is, according to Texas A&M AgriLife experts. “To prepare the country for future potential threats and situations that could cause disruptions, the team is pioneering research to enhance the understanding of how cross-border threats can affect agricultural and food supply chains,” said Gregory Pompelli, Ph.D., director of CBTS. “This research supports the efforts to safeguard these critical components of national well-being, which also have global implications.” 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Texas A&M Team Working With Homeland Security to Protect US Food Supply Chain From Threats” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld

“Since the inception of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), it has classified potatoes correctly as a vegetable. There is no debate about the physical characteristics of the potato and its horticultural scientific classification,” the Members wrote. “Given the nutritional value of potatoes, consumers would be missing out on key nutrients if a reclassification effort, or even a suggestion that grains and potatoes are similar and thus interchangeable, moves forward through the DGAs process,” the lawmakers continued. “In addition, any change to potatoes’ current classification under the DGAs would immediately confuse consumers, retailers, restaurant operators, growers and indeed the entire supply chain.” 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Potatoes: A Grain?” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

#MarchMadness might be over but lets learn about the history of North Carolina. Tobacco Road is a general term used to describe parts of the state of North Carolina that are historically known for their tobacco production. The colony of Jamestown in Virginia found success growing tobacco commercially in the 1610s and other southern colonies took up the crop in subsequent years. North Carolina became its own colony in 1712 after splitting with what became South Carolina. While tobacco was grown in the colony’s Coastal Plain, the sandy soils of the area limited the production of other agricultural commodities. Due to this limitation, North Carolina was something of a “little brother” to its neighbor colonies as Virginia and South Carolina were able to profit from not just tobacco, but other crops like cotton, rice, and indigo. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Smokes and Swishes: North Carolina’s Tobacco Road” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld

Have you every hid chocolate from you partner or kids and then couldn't find it? If only we could remember like Chickadees. Your ability to remember and recall moments in time is important for recording life-defining moments and everyday information like where you parked the car. Now researchers reporting in the journal Cell on March 29 have new insight into how those episodic memories are encoded in the brain based on studies of how chickadees store food. Their study finds that chickadees activate unique neural patterns, which they liken to barcodes, each time they cache food in a certain spot. When they go back to retrieve that stored food, their brains light back up with that precise pattern. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Chickadees Have Unique Neural "Barcodes" for Memories of Stashing Away Food” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

The research team surveyed 35 organic dairy farmers, all of whom were familiar with seaweed-based feeds and a third of whom were already using such feeds on their farms. Nearly half of respondents reported a willingness to pay, on average, an additional $0.64 per cow per day for methane-reducing seaweed-based feed. The survey also revealed that 93 percent of the farmers were more concerned about issues like labor shortages, infrastructure problems, rising costs and unstable supply chains, rather than climate change and regulation. This means that farmers would only consider using seaweed in their cows’ diets if it is cost-effective and has additional benefits, while also aligning with existing feeding practices and receiving support from government policies and subsidies. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Maine Farmers Receptive to Seaweed Feed” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

#didyouknow that the #eclipse will effect animal behaviors? Historical accounts suggest that solar eclipses can influence the behavior of birds, mammals, insects and even plants. Often, these observations were made by astronomers whose view of the eclipse was obscured by clouds, allowing them to focus on the animals nearby instead. A wide range of eclipse-related behaviors have been seen over time: 🔹One of the first documented behavioral changes dates to a complete eclipse in 1544, when birds stopped singing. 🔹During one eclipse, fish in a hatchery stopped feeding and sank to the bottom, whereas Golden Carp in a zoo surfaced to feed, mirroring their nightly behavior. 🔹Toads, generally nocturnal, were observed actively searching for insects and worms during an eclipse. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "UK Call to Observe Livestock and Wildlife Behavior during Eclipse” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Luke 15:3-5 KJV Just like a farmer or rancher knows how many animals they have, so does God know each one of us. #didyouknow Americans have lived with horses for Millions of years! Many people assume that horses first came to the Americas when Spanish explorers brought them here about 500 years ago. In fact, recent research has confirmed a European origin for horses associated with humans in the American Southwest and Great Plains. But those weren’t the first horses in North America. The family Equidae, which includes domesticated varieties of horses and donkeys along with zebras and their kin, is actually native to the Americas. The fossil record reveals horse origins here more than 50 million years ago, as well as their extinction throughout the Americas during the last Ice Age about 10,000 years ago. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Did You Know? Renee Bouplon’s introduction to agriculture came by way of horses. Growing up in Cambridge, New York, Renee’s father and grandparents owned and trained standardbred horses. “I have fond memories of those days spent at the stables, training track, and family farm…,” shared Renee. A particular memory she mentioned was during hay season each year when all her family members pitched in to bring in the crop. Renee remembered, “The adults put the square bales on the wagon and the kids, holding on for dear life, stacked the hay and hoped the tractor wouldn’t hit a woodchuck hole. I would always help my grandfather load the hay on the hay elevator afterward.” When she was a little older the horse farm also offered Renee her first paying job starting when she was in Junior High. Outside of the horse farm, Renee was not involved in any ag youth organizations like FFA or 4-H, however, the farm taught her many life lessons which remain with her today. “Having the opportunity to be a part of a family horse business growing up was one of the best educations on responsibility, teamwork, and planning,” she said. Renee also credits her involvement in the Girl Scouts for teaching her necessary life skills such as time management, collaboration, goal setting, and sales & marketing. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "Cultivating Ag Careers: Renee Bouplon, Executive Director of Agricultural Stewardship Association” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts @agstewardshipassociation

Planted acreage intentions for corn are down or unchanged in 38 of the 48 estimating states. Acreage decreases of 300,000 acres or more from last year are expected in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, South Dakota, and Texas. There has been a recent disease event in dairy cattle with reports of affected herds in several states. Samples submitted from dairy cattle affected with the current disease outbreak were recently confirmed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to have highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). It is too soon to predict if all of the recent reports of unexplained illnesses in dairy cattle in the U.S. are due to HPAI. Veterinarians and the dairy industry are working collaboratively with state and federal officials during the ongoing investigation. 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "AABP: Strain of Avian Influenza Found in Dairy Cattle” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts

New research, published in SCI’s Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture illuminates the untapped potential of the shrub sea buckthorn as a rich source of natural antioxidants in North America. The study, which was carried out by researchers at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada and led by Professor Fereidoon Shahidi, outlines the unique nutritional profile of sea buckthorn berries grown in Canada and highlights their commercial potential as a bioactive-loaded superfood. Sea buckthorn is a deciduous, thorny plant found along the coasts of northwestern Europe as well as temperate regions of central Asia. Its berries and leaves are widely used for their nutritional, pharmaceutical and functional properties – sea buckthorn oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins E, B, and A, and polyphenols. In Canada, the plant was introduced in the early 2000s following research by governmental agencies on the crop’s commercial potential. As Renan Danielski, a PhD student at the University of Newfoundland and author of the study explains, ‘Sea buckthorn is a unique crop with vast potential for utilisation. Popular in Asia and North-Western Europe, there is an opportunity to replicate this success in North America by leveraging the unique qualities of locally grown varieties.’ 👍Tap the link in our bio and search "The Next Antioxidant Superfood? Canadian Sea Buckthorn Berries Offer Potential” to read more about it! ☀️Don't forget to follow for more Ag news! #morningagclips #agriculturenews #farmandhome #agriculturelife #agricultureeducation #farms #farmstuff #dairyfarmersofamerica #farmerslife #farmerproblems #ag365 #agriculturelife🌱 #localfarm #farm365 #ruralamerica #agvocate #agchat #lifeonthefarm #farmlifestyle #aglifestyle #farmland #farmnews #farmerslife #agdaily #agdailymedia #farmlifeisthebestlife #farm365 #farmliving #agricultureworld #agriculturefacts
