Governor Kathy Hochul and representatives from The Coca-Cola Company and fairlife today marked the groundbreaking on a new fairlife production facility, a $650 million investment in the Town of Webster, Monroe County. The 745,000 square-foot facility, being built on Tebor Road, will serve as fairlife’s flagship Northeast location and is expected to be operational by Q4 of 2025. Empire State Development is providing up to $21 million in assistance for the fairlife project through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program and the New York Power Authority is providing nearly 8.5 MW of low-cost ReCharge NY power in exchange for the job creation commitments. The company selected New York following a personal pitch from Governor Hochul due to the invaluable assistance from government and community partners and the state’s world-renowned reputation as an agribusiness global leader with an unparalleled, innovative dairy community. Belgians are well known for their pulling power, and are still used in agriculture farming today. We see them locally in Mennonite fields, but they are also used in logging! The date was December 16, 1893. The setting was Carnegie Music Hall in New York City. To rapturous applause, Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, titled “From the New World” had just premiered and the audience gave an overwhelmingly positive reception to the work. The piece would become Dvořák’s most renowned piece of music. Little did the audience know that the composer had put the finishing touches on this masterpiece several months earlier in the small farm town of Spillville, Iowa. In the summer of 1893, the composer spent three months in Spillville and the region and its people ended up having a profound effect on him enabling him to compose some of his most enduring music. Antonin Dvořák was born September 8, 1841, in Nelahozeves, Bohemia in what is today the Czech Republic. Dvořák was the son of a butcher and his family also operated an inn out of their home. Though several family members were good amateur musicians, it became apparent that young Antonin possessed considerable musical abilities. 🍄🌲 As you wander through the forest here at Wally Farms you will sometimes see trees with mushrooms growing on them. While this might look interesting, it often means the tree isn’t in the best health. But there’s a silver lining—these mushrooms help break down the dying parts of the tree, turning them back into nutrients that enrich the soil and help new plants grow. This natural process is crucial for keeping the forest healthy and resilient, especially as we face the challenges brought about by a changing climate. By understanding and supporting these cycles, we can help our forest thrive. We are so proud of the work of our Forester Annabel @outside.w.annabel and AgroForester Ryan @maidenhair.eco have done thus far in securing a RegenNY grant.
