Usually I’m swamped in August with first day of school personalized chalkboard orders. Despite having a stack of them ready for personalization, I didn’t even offer them. 😔 School starting dates have been all over the place and posing with a laptop for the first day seems like a better way to mark this strange year. HAPPY WOMAN’S DAY!! I love happy families! Yet when I tried to think ahead to the future when my children were younger and would get married (daughters mom) and have children of their own, making me a grandmama, I had to strain my brain to try to grasp it, and it remained somewhat cloudy and vague 😁. Today they come to visit, and I hear their little feet pitter-patter across the floor as they run to find me to jump into my arms, the joy 🙌🏻. I cannot express the sheer joy of having someone so little filled with so much love aimed at me! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 And then they often cry when they have to leave. My heart hurts with love for them. That joy and intense love are like the joy we feel when we experience the knowledge of the love God has for us. And even though at times it can seem a bit cloudy with all the day-to-day tasks and chores... it’s real. There is great joy in the relationship, and we haven’t yet seen Him with our natural eyes. We see Him with the eyes of our spirit. We see Him through His Word and others’ encounters and through miracles we see every day; but ......... what will that day be like when we see Him face to face and fall into His arms, or maybe swoon at His feet before we can even get there? He said, “I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am so will you be also.” I prepare parties, presents, books to read, break-aways and activities for my children and grandchildren because I want to express my great love for them. What joy I have in the preparation! . Jesus is preparing a place for us to make our joy full when we see Him. We have joy now, but we haven’t seen anything yet! After my oldest daughter was born several years ago, I began to see how wrong I was in my thinking about God. .. For the first time I got a taste of what I believe God feels towards us. .. I thought about my daughter often, like day and night, I prayed for her while she slept at night, i would in the morning and during working time, I showed photos of her to anyone who would look. I wanted to give her the world. .. My own love and desire for my kids’ love is so strong that it opened my eyes to how much God desires relationship and loves us. .. My daughter’s expression of love for me and her desire to be with me is the most amazing thing. Nothing compares to being truly, exuberantly wanted by your children. .. Through this experience, I came to understand that my desire for my children is only a faint echo of God’s great love for me and for every person He made. .. I am just an earthly, sinful mom, and I love my kids so much it hurts. How could I not trust a heavenly, perfect Father who loves me infinitely more than I will ever love my kids? ..
