I subbed out the regular butter for @earthbalance dairy and soy free butter, used @enjoylifefoods dairy free chocolate, and reduced the baking time by about a minute. The Morris, located in Mission and founded by veteran sommelier Paul Einbund, represents the culmination of his expertise after dedicating years to various top-notch restaurants in San Francisco. Boasting a broad spectrum of beverages, The Morris was listed as a finalist in the category of outstanding wine and other beverage programs this year, an honor bestowed by the James Beard Foundation Awards. I chose The Morris primarily for its wine list, which kindled my curiosity with its diverse selection. The chef, Gavin Schmidt, regularly changes the menu to reflect the flow of seasonal ingredients. Every dish is made in-house with his finesse and meticulousness, including the charcuteries. ... My main reason for visiting The Morris was fulfilled as they offered an extensive selection of Ganevat’s wines. I found myself torn between Cuvee Florine and Chomois du Paradis, eventually leaning towards the citrusy Cuvee Florine. Initially, the tartness of the wine overwhelmed my palate, which I typically don’t enjoy. However, Cuvee Florine turned out to be a good choice for the slightly greasy main course dishes. Over time, additional flavors and aromas such as pear, honey, and white flowers emerged, balancing out the initial tartness. At that point, I had no regrets. ... I highly recommend checking out this place. It’s truly hard to find a venue that offers both excellent quality food and a vast selection of great beverages. It’s evident that Paul and Gavin intimately collaborate based on their mature, seasoned expertise in the culinary scene, resulting in exquisite dining experiences. where do I even begin? staff appreciation posts happen often, as they should, and this is one of those times. we work thankless jobs that are physically and mentally taxing, all for the sake of hospitality. in a world where some people are undeserving of that love we give to the world, if i’m being truthful and honest, it’s just the reality we live in. it’s hard finding people that whole heartedly believe in your vision that are willing to deal with all the extra bullshit that comes with it. this small team of individuals pushes through and believes in themselves, the business, and me. still not too sure why haha but I’m beyond thankful for that level of commitment that i would never force people to have. cheers to surrounding yourself with people that push you forward and treat each other with respect and love like some sort of creative dysfunctional family. thank you rex, andrew, and asher.

Turkey hunting in beautiful South Dakota brought a fabulous surprise for us in the charming town of Custer . A petit restaurant called @skogenkitchen served the four of us an exquisite meal to never be forgotten. Starter/ East coast oysters with rhubarb Mignonette ( we added Osetra caviar and Creme Fraiche for fun) , Duck , Bison Short Ribs with fresh Morels , Shishito peppers, Lobster Steam Buns, Egg Raviolo, Tuna Sashimi, Foie Gras with creme fraiche ice cream (yep)….and key lime cheese cake for dessert. The vibe when you walk through the entry is one of welcome, energy and happiness everywhere. 📍Turkey and the Wolf, New Orleans, Louisiana Collard green melt: 8.5/10; slow cooked collards, Swiss cheese, pickled cherry pepper dressing, and Cole slaw on toasted rye. Flavors and textures kinda remind me of a Reuben. not sure if the plate it came on enhanced or hindered it. Wedge salad: 8/10; bacon, everything bagel crunchy stuff, tomatoes, blue cheese dressing, fresh dill - Turkey and the wolf was named the #1 best new restaurant in America when it opened back in 2017 and definitely is memorable. We have a new dish on our menu that is a riff on a coastal Vietnamese dish called banh tom, which is usually served with shrimp… Taro Pavé | Bánh Khoai sweet potato, taro, celtuce, coconut mousse Imagine thin sheets of sweet potato, taro, and yucca layered with a batter of tapioca and rice flour, water, spices, and liquid aminos. It is steamed, then fried into small crispy rectangles. We serve it with a coconut mousse made with coconut milk, garlic, shallot, Thai chili, toasted coconut flakes, salt, lime juice, and sugar. Took our first family trip to Mystic, CT and while dining out with a baby wasn’t the easiest, we weren’t going to pass on the opportunity to try out James Beard Award finalist @reneetouponce @theportofcallct! Popped into a cafe for a cappuccino this afternoon and unexpectedly had literally the best #taco of my life. I was so taken aback by the flavors that I went to Google to do some research. The cafe, inspired by Mexico City, opened a few months ago by James Beard nominated pastry chef, Stephanie Velasquez & Nicolas Vera. They are no strangers to the Houston #gastro scene and they are killing it with Ema. Such a pleasure! Gosh that taco tho. And the coffee was pretty damn good too. An ode to @publicanchicago “Ham Chop in Hay” but with a Southern twist: This pork chop is cured, smoked and cooked just like ham and with a bit of Tasso spice it goes from the Midwest to the South. Now let’s talk about the cornbread grits: Chef @jjfelton4 had the brilliant thought, “why can’t you make cornbread, break it into pieces, dry them out and then use the pieces to make grits? Would that work?” 
 And that is how the cornbread grits came into being. Inspiration from the Southern gods. Moving on, the dish is topped with grilled, springtime asparagus and an agrodolce with dried sour cherries and fresh rhubarb—it’s a sweet, sour, Southern combination you don’t want to miss.
