Flashback Friday, back to the late 70s Knott's Berry Farm. The all new Montezooma's Revenge, the first flywheel shuttle launch looping coaster built by Schwarzkopf for Knott's in 1978 . Back in the days of people being smart enough to not need anything but a small loading gate to keep them from stepping in front of a speeding coaster coming through the station. And check out those old Fiesta Village uniforms. I had got invited by the Knott family to ride this ride a week before it opened to the public in 1978 to be in the commercial and was so scared to ride but i did, and after the first time launched i was hooked! My family has had a connection and history with Knott's in some sort from pretty much the beginning of the farm. This month in Knott's Berry Farm History. Knott's concessionaire Bill Higdon started the Butterfield Stage Line at Knott’s in March of 1949. From that time to March, 1955, his stagecoaches handled 1,166,591 customers and set a single-day record of 3,875 guests. To keep the line moving, his team has a record loading time of 15 coaches in 29 minutes. He had an outfit of 30 horses, four vintage stagecoaches from the late 1800s, three covered wagons, and assorted surries. In April 1955, the Higdons added one more stagecoach to the roster when Bill's son, Kent, built a brand new stagecoach from scratch. By January of 1959, the Butterfield Stage Line had carried 3 million passengers. The Butterfield Line boasts it is the only stage line that ever made a profit after the railroads came to town! I was invited to @sixflagsmagicmountain by @themeparkaccess yesterday. I've not been there since i was 16 on a trip back from Tijuana in 1998. What an outstanding park with some absolutely amazing rides, but the company i was with made it even better. Emperor Dive Coaster @SeaWorld San Diego Reverse Rider POV. WOW! What a fun coaster and great addition to SeaWorld San Diego. We had the privilege to be invited on February 28th to be one of the first to ride one of Southern California's most anticipated new coasters and only floorless dive coaster, it is the Tallest (153 feet tall 143 foot facedown 90 deg. vertical drop), Fastest (over 60 mph), and Longest (2,500 feet of track) Dive Coaster in the west and after riding I can say this will be the most popular ride in the San Diego park. Emperor is named after the Emperor Penguin that is on exhibit right next to the attraction and the layout of the ride mimics the diving and the quick movements and turns of the birds as they swim. Emperor is now in passholder preview from the 2nd of March thru the 11th and open to the general public on the 12th, pass preview days are based on your level of pass you have so check out the parks website to find out when you are eligible.
