Happy #teacuptuesday ! Yesterday my husband and I ran some errands in the city, and I squeezed in a quick stop at an antique mall. Lots of beautiful things I would have loved, but all way out of my price range, so I only came home with this pretty Foley teacup. But one of the errands was to pick up the quilt blocks and hair clips I had bought from @evergreen.finch.vintage and when we got home, this hat from @abigailsvintageattic was in the mailbox, so it was a pretty good day for vintage after all! Now I just have to settle on a project for the quilt blocks. When you reconnect with a friend from long ago and he has 30 years worth of updates to share, it can turn into nine (!!!) envelopes in a single week. He was a friend from my time in Amsterdam, but we lost touch after I returned to Chicago. And he has a very common name—impossible to track down. Many thanks to @quillsome for sharing a reel of an envelope she sent to me. My friend just happens to also follow her, saw my name on the envelope, and sent me a message to reconnect. What a pleasant surprise, especially after so many years! He was studying photography in Amsterdam and took the series of portraits of me in my biker jacket—my favorite pictures of myself ever. Good email day. I received two unexpected honors in one day for the work I do in the classroom at CSU! First, the university recognized my 10 year milestone, giving me this sweet lapel pin to honor my time at @coloradostateuniversity Then, I received another email telling me a student selected me to receive a Certificate of Recognition For Outstanding Contributions to Academic Excellence. The email said: “This certificate symbolizes our appreciation for your unwavering dedication to nurturing the intellectual growth and development of your students. Your passion for teaching and mentorship shines through in everything you do, and it is truly inspiring.” That’s the kind of email that fills a professor’s heart with joy. Can’t believe I’ve been here 10 years! But the days go quickly when I get to work with fantastic students and cool colleagues.
