Her dream job is to work at a lovely little café. Allie also has a horrible boyfriend called Ryan. She meets her new next door neighbour Cherry, who teaches her how to cook. Better by Far by Hazel Hayes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s/5 CW: this book deals with themes of trauma, grief (specifically loss of a parent), depression, and degenerative illness. please be mindful of your mental space while you read. 🤍 There is so much more to this story than I though, it has so many layers. It was a story about art, about creating and creatives. It was a story about broken people, about loneliness, and connection. It was a story about loss, all the losses of our lives, from the little things to the biggest things. It was a story so full of feelings that I felt empty when I finished it. I really love stories like this. Stories that make me think, make me feel, make me reflect. But this one hit harder than others have- in part because I could relate to Kate’s grief so keenly. It reminded me of a note I have in my phone - “grief is love with nowhere to go.” This is not a story for everyone- I truly cannot express that enough. It’s hopeless and heavy and full of too big emotions. It’s haunting and soul-crushing. But it was a story that found me in at a time that I was ready (as I’ll ever be) to read it. 🤍 Hazel has a brilliant way of writing such beautifully sad stories that leave you with the most genuine hope. It’s not forced or corny- it’s an honest sort of kindness that lets the heart begin to heal. Thank you for your beautiful works Hazel. You created something magical yet again. 🤍 (also, we had a serendipitous “sun shower” and it’s that’s exactly how this book’s ending made me feel 😇)

Personally, I love a book made in the style of an old fashioned, classic text. Much preferable to actually reading old fashioned, classic texts 🙈😆 So I really love the Illumicrate edition! But I’ll admit I would have no idea what the book was about based just on the style. So the original cover does have that going for it. This is the first edition of Dostoevsky’s Letters from the Underworld (later Notes from Underground), bound in the publishers finer quarter pigskin. An estimated less than 2% of books issued by Dent got this treatment (Seymour). This first printing from 1913 is in near immaculate condition with only some light signs of shelf wear and fading to the spine. A truly rare piece in this edition, binding and condition. ✨Book Review✨ Archer by Dr. Rebecca Sharp I had actually planned my whole weekend to read the entire four books in the Reynolds protective group series, however I struggled to get into the books as much as I had hoped. Was it the books themselves? No. I don’t believe so. It was well written, interesting characters and backstories. The storyline itself was good and unexpected in ways.
