Friday 🫶🏻 Another week complete and a relatively relaxing weekend ahead. I feel like I’ve not sat down since October so after the last event we had on I said I’m not making any great plans or packing our schedule tight for the next wee while and I honestly feel SO good for it. Our weekends look like parks, beaches and walks and of course any obligatory parties and football matches 🤪
AD| 🍹🏖️Hula Co🏖️🍹 The hubby and I enjoyed a lovely (child free! 🎉) lunch date yesterday at @hulaconcl in central Newcastle. Just recently opened, @hulaconcl is Newcastle’s first Hawaiian restaurant serving some absolutely delicious food. 🏖️🍹🏖️🍹 For starters we both opted for Tacos. I had the mushroom and edamame and the hubby went for chicken. The flavour was amazing and the great thing about tacos for my hubby, who is a celiac, is that they are made from corn not wheat meaning they are gluten free - he was so pleased! 🤣🎉 🏖️🍹🏖️🍹 We both chose the Hawaiian Green Curry for our mains (I had the vegan version and hubby had chicken) and it was absolutely delicious. The sauce was so tasty - creamy and coconutty - but with a chill kick. My name is Cherise Arthur and I am a retired educator and currently teaching a class at a local college on writing and self publishing. I grew up on a farm and always loved animals and writing as a kid. I was lucky enough to have ponies and horses as a child as well as dogs, cats, ducks and even a raccoon. Dad brought him home one day and he was very small. We named him Rocky. 📌How and when did your journey start as a writer? I have always loved writing as a child and it was my favorite subject in school. I find the use of words and grammar say a lot about you as a person. I wrote many stories and was inspired by my Grandmother who wrote a story for us when we were children and illustrated it. I like to be out in nature and observe the natural world and I also love to watch people. I have a wild imagination still as an adult and make up stories about people and what their stories might be. 📌Since you’ve been published what other opportunities have you had as a writer. I am teaching and am now volunteering for the Oregon Donkey Sanctuary and American Wild Horse Conservation and wrote a song and created a video for my speaking engagements to teach the public about our wild horses and burros. Reading and writing can open your career up to amazing opportunities. 📌Tell us something more about your books? Sierra and Star is about a young girl who wishes for a pony. She does not like dolls and wants more than anything to have a pony. On her 8th birthday she is surprised to get a pony and their amazing adventures together begin. This is loosely based on me as a child and wanting a pony. 📚Bella and the Queen’s ponies is a modern day fairy tale. Bella gets lost in the woods and must get help. She comes upon a magical herd of Dartmoor Ponies, talking owls, singing mice and the beautiful Queen Lillian who teach her lessons about kindness and helping each other. 📚Oliver’s Magical Adventures is a fun book about a boy who makes a wish on a carousel and takes a wild ride on a zebra in the park. Garden update 💫 We finally put the grass down, it was like awful stones and the space was unusable! What a bloody difference! We got our grass from @homebargains and needed 3! They are 1m x 4m! ✏️📚School Update📚✏️ Elsie is still really enjoying school and has made lots of friends but we’ve recently encountered more reluctance from her about going in the morning… She’s started complaining that 5 days is too much and she wishes it was only part time so she can hang out with mummy and daddy more. 🥺 She told me yesterday she feels like she hardly sees me anymore! 🥺📚🥺📚 I really felt for her to be honest because five days a week is a lot when you’re only five - it’s a lot when you’re a grown up to! It’s hopefully just a phase and she’ll be more enthusiastic about it all again soon. Does anyone still blow dandelions to tell the time? On our walk yesterday we had a laugh trying to see if we could get one to get the correct time. Of course none did but we did get a few that were the same each time 😂 . Haven't done it before?? It's fun to try with your kids, you just blow them and however many times it takes for all the seeds to come away is the "time" of day.
