Hello...Hello... So here we are, it's the 1st of February today! How crazy is that! January was a bit of a blur I must admit. It's a month that seems to drag on, coming down off the high of Christmas trading. But at the same time it flew by! Do you feel the same? We had lots of visitors to Innocence and Attitude during the school holidays. It was lovely to see so many familiar and new faces. Innocence and Attitudes newsletter went out yesterday. For those that are signed up, I hope you enjoy these. You get a bit more of an incite of all the things about Innocence and Attitude, and me, of course! If you haven't signed up, you are quite welcome to do so. I'd love to have you on board. We also put out an Innocence and Attitude 'blog' when we can. The latest one was very special. Jess, a close friend, which also happens to be an I & A superstar staff member, wrote a lovely piece from the heart. Check out the website. So, families have been busy getting organised for the return of the school year. School uniforms, stationary, school fees, and all the things. This one is a long school holiday. I'm sure many parents are relieved that the school year has begun. Lol! What does February mean for Innocence and Attitude? We will see Autumn styles start arriving! That's always exciting. I can't wait to see the new styles for the season. I ordered them quite some time ago. As all styles are made to order for your store. It's the best part of owning a retail clothing store. Valentines Day is just around the corner. My kids have organised to attend a concert and event in Feb. So, one child will be in Melbourne this weekend, and one will be flying to Perth at the end of the month. That's exciting for them! I'll be spending some time upskilling in February. Hello my beautiful people.... BOOM! It's New Years Eve! What is happening? Wasn't it just Christmas yesterday? I'm sitting here, at home, reflecting on the year that I have had over an iced coffee. A lot of it is a blur! OMG! I have worked so damn hard this year! But I have achieved so much and smashed some goals that I had set for myself and for Innocence & Attitude. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jess and Mandy, my girl gang, lol. Who are both not only close friends, but very important members of I & A. Thank you for all your help and support. I know I & A customers love seeing you both instore. There are many people behind the scenes, that contribute to the smooth running and success of I & A. You know who you are. There's many facets of running a small business. And its so important to be all over it. And that we are!! I'd also like to thank my brands, reps and staff. This was a lovely message and reminder today. So I thought I would share. This is the difference, when you support and shop small. You are talking to a person. A lot of the time, and this case, the actual owner of the business. The person who created, lives and breathes the small business. Who is always happy to help with any query or issue. Who has a broad knowledge of the brands and products that they sell. Today and everyday. My aim is to make sure every child is happy in the clothes that they wear. And solving the common struggles and problems for families. In my case offering quality, trendy, affordable and suitable clothing for kids of all ages. At the different ages and stages of life. For every occasion. From babies to teenagers. There are not two kids the same, that walk through the door at Innocence and Attitude. Hello...Hello.... Well, that wasn't the greatest start to the working day. Swan Hills mobile and internet service was down. You can't run a business without either, these days. Sad but true! I've been busy over the past week indent ordering for Autumn 2024 styles for the kids. For those who aren't aware, all the styles that you see offered at I & A are made to order. And a LOT of planning is involved. The fashion just gets better and better. Honestly! All the brands at I & A offer the latest and on trend styles. So cool! I've also been forward planning for the remainder of 2023. There's some busy weekends coming up, like the Swan Hill Market Day in Oct for example. And we are only 17 weeks away from the 'big man in the red suit' arriving! 🎅 Yes, Christmas! Crazy isn't it. I have also re-assessed the Sunday trading offering. This was only on a trial basis. I know quite a few of I & A customers have asked for it. But the conclusion is that it's just not viable for my business at this point in time. After offering Sunday trading for the past two months, its clear shopping habits haven't changed. Also, due to the rising costs of running a business. I'll only be offering 7 day a week trading as I have always done for the lead up to Christmas. And busy times throughout the year. I'd like to thank all those who supported Sunday trading. Effective immediately. Trading hours are again. Monday to Friday - 9am to 5.30pm Saturdays - 9am to 1pm I will be looking forward to having my Sundays back, to switch off, and enjoy time with my family and friends. My brain never stops... honestly • Winter finally arrived. 🥶 It's my least favourite season, as I'm a cold frog. I really dislike being cold. Hello.....Hello..... How are you all? I thought it was time I reintroduced myself. My name is Carrie-Ann. I'm the founder and owner of Innocence and Attitude. A hip retail clothing store and space created for the kids, Swan Hill Vic I had always wanted to own and operate my own business. I have worked in quite a few small businesses over the years in my working life. Mostly in hospitality. Starting from 13 years of age. My first ever job was in a local takeaway shop in my hometown. I'm originally from Wycheproof. A small country town, found mid way between Melbourne and Mildura on the Calder Highway. With the population of around 800 people. In which I will always call 'home'. The connection that I have with 'Wyche' will be forever. My childhood, family and friends. My hubby and I relocated to Swan Hill from Bendigo, to carry on with the family pest control business. Once I had kids, it became evident there was a gap in market. There seemed to be plenty of clothing options and stores available for babies and young children. But once they were around 8 to 13 years of age, it became a lot harder. Who is representing the tween/teen age kids? And where are the Australian brands? I had researched, planned and pondered this idea and the possibilities for over two years. But it also took the unexpected loss of my hero, my best mate, my dad, to realise life is too short. And turning 40 in 2016, having a bit of a mid-life crisis. I needed purpose! So with the support of my husband, it was all actions go. Innocence and Attitude came to life in September 2017. We renovated the old butchers shop at the Swan Hill North Shopping precinct. It was a great start and test of this unique idea. I learnt so much in the first two years of operation. It became evident however, that for my business to grow, I had to relocate to the CBD of Swan Hill. For more exposure, foot traffic and easier access to the store. The opportunity to relocate to Shop 4, 195-195 Beveridge Street Swan Hill arose. The all NEW store re-opened in August 2019. Where I still operate today. I haven't looked back and am so proud of my achievements thus far. Keep tuned for part 2...
