The BEST fried chicken EVER. Original recipe: Iโm not sure, Iโve used this recipe for years and have no idea where I originally got it from. Calories per serve: a lot probably. Difficulty level: SO EASY. Taste: 11/10 This recipe makes around 3 large chicken breasts sliced into tenders BATTER: 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup chicken broth (I just mix a stock cube with some water) 1 1/4 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 3/4 cup plain four BREADING: 1 1/2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder You will need about a litre of a neutral oil like vegetable or canola. To make batter, in a medium bowl whisk together egg, milk, chicken broth,salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk in flour. Combine all ingredients for breading in a pie plate and mix well. Heat oil in a large deep pot (or deep fryer/dutch oven). Youโll know the oil is hot enough if you drop a little bit of batter and it sizzles. I never hear the oil on a complete high heat, as I donโt want to burn my chicken, I prefer to heat the oil using a medium heat and letting it cook through slightly slower. Dip the chicken in batter and then roll to coat in the breading. Fry 4 at a time, frying until golden brown and cooked through, around 10 mins. This is THE BEST fried chicken you will have! Itโs kind of a copy cat for KFC. We love using awake times but itโs one of those things about baby sleep that is still individual and comes down to what your baby needs. ๐คช Most important point.... MAX awake time doesnโt mean itโs the right awake time before bed. Confusing? Letโs un-confuse this ๐ We see this ALOT ๐ Babies and toddlers waking multiple times in the night, having split nights and/or early rising. And the most common reason we see this is because the awake time between their last nap (or only nap) and bed is too much. With awake windows there is a LOW โ MAX range. If your LO is false starting, waking lots, awake for long periods in the night or early rising and you are using the MAX end of their awake range, DROP THEIR AWAKE TIME BACK. The awake length between waking from the last nap and going to bed for the night may vary from day to day and itโs really going to depend on how well your little one slept that afternoon. Hereโs what often works well โฌ ๐ If your LO only slept for a single cycle of sleep or less for their last nap itโs likely they will be ready for bed at the lower end of their awake time. ๐ If your LO took a longer sleep of around an hour or more for their last nap they may need the mid-max awake length before bedtime. ๐ If your LO had their last nap in the car itโs likely they wonโt handle the max awake time before bed as often car naps arenโt spent as deep / restorative sleep. ๐ If your LO is showing tired signs that they are ready for bed before the max awake time then itโs best to take their lead and not hold them out for bed. ๐ For toddlers on one nap. Often they can handle more awake time in the morning (max range) but only the lower end of awake time before bedtime. Remember to always base your LOโs bedtime off their age appropriate awake window, the time set from when they woke from the last nap and their cues. Awake times and tired cues need to be used in conjunction with each other to get the timing right. Share with another parent might find this breakdown helpful โฅ

High blood pressure in pregnancy High blood pressure (Hypertension) is a common complication in pregnancy, affecting approximately 10-15% of pregnant women. High blood pressure can cause complications for mothers and babies in pregnancy, so early recognition and management is important. There are 3 main types of hypertension in pregnancy: 1. Chronic hypertension โ when you already have high blood pressure before you become pregnant 2. Gestational or pregnancy induced hypertension โ high blood pressure appearing and progressing after 20 weeks of pregnancy without other organ involvement. (Meaning your kidney and liver function are still normal). 3. Pre-eclampsia โ the most severe form of pregnancy induced hypertension. High blood pressure being the symptom of a much more serious issue with your kidneys, liver or circulatory system. Occurs in up to 5% of pregnancies. So, what does this mean? In early pregnancy, it may be normal for you to have โlowโ blood pressure. Around 22 weeks gestation, your blood pressure should return to normal, meaning, less than 140/90. During routine antenatal (pregnancy) care, the midwife or doctor should assess your blood pressure at every appointment as well as periodically checking your urine/blood for any signs of issues developing with your kidneys or liver. If you already had hypertension or you develop high blood pressure during your pregnancy you will likely need more antenatal visits and blood tests. You may also need medication to help control your high blood pressure which is crucial to protect you and your baby. For most women, high blood pressure in pregnancy is only mild, develops late in the pregnancy and is easy to manage. However, occasionally pre-eclampsia may develop and can become severe or life-threatening very quickly (<1% of cases).
