Lots of decisions going on, and I wanted to let you know what’s going on, in my head mainly, but it’s causing quite a bit of stress at the moment. . I’m not going to lie, business isn’t great. It’s getting harder and harder to be seen on social media. And now with a part time job to bridge the gap, I just can’t dedicate the time to it that I used to. . Hi guys, Some decisions are trivial, like the clothes we will wear during the day or what we will eat for lunch. Other decisions are crucial, impacting our lives in ways we never imagined they could. Depending on the stage of life we are in, alternative choices may have different degrees of importance. Consequently, for students it is much more significant, e.g., to think twice before sitting around doing nothing when what they should actually be doing is studying. The older we get, we take more responsibilities. It is about, e.g., deciding where we want to work, whom we want to marry, how many children we want to have and what life style we want to lead. It is easy to get overwhelmed by the ever-growing quantity of decisions we need to make every single day. Sometimes it is really hard to decide between one thing and another also because we are afraid to make mistakes. We don’t want to be wrong. However, “errare humanum est” (to err is human), as the idiomatic expression in Latin goes. The mistake itself is not scaring. What we should care about is the way we deal with made mistakes, meaning that we have to know and accept that we made them in the first place. Then if there is a possibility to amend the wrongs, we should not hesitate. Ask for forgiveness, ask for help, just do whatever shows appropriate in a given situation. It’s just a weird piece of clay. But to me, this quiet moment in the studio today represented three years of my life. Around this time three years ago, I quit a job that had been slowly devouring me and took a leap of faith in myself. I had no idea where I was going to land, but I suddenly had a lot of free time, so I took a beginner’s pottery course at @elementalstudiospdx (where I now work full time)! And now, as I’m packing up for another art show, I’m looking at the body of work I’ve created over three years and the parts of me that it represents, and I’m amazed that a single decision could completely change the trajectory of what I thought was possible in life. Am I rich? Not even close. Am I famous? Definitely not (and that’s ok). But I’m really fortunate to be able to say I am part of a community in a space that brings me a lot of joy and have access to an art form that has allowed me to explore and express parts of myself that I don’t always let others see. Chemo day #9! I’m officially counting down the days until my chemo cleanse days are done. Only 3 more to go!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 In case you missed my exciting update, the oncologist said last week I’m having such a great response she doesn’t think I need part 2 of chemo. Soooooo I only have 3 left after today!! We will confirm with another ultrasound but if that looks good May 1st will be my last day of chemo and then on to surgery and possibly radiation. Radiation is not something I was considering before but the surgeon told me last week if I didn’t do radiation she thinks it will be back in six months. 😬 So now I’m reconsidering and will be looking into it again because I definitely don’t want to go through all of this again! I’m taking it one decision at a time. I’m also considering whether or not to have them go ahead and take my ovaries when I’m in surgery also. 😳 They want to take my ovaries out for several reasons. 1 - I have endometriosis and get a lot of cysts. One of them is pretty large and we’ve been watching it. 2 - I tested positive for the Rad 51 gene, which increases your chance of getting ovarian cancer. The gynecological oncologist also said by removing them it reduces the chance of getting cancer in my other breast. So it’s def something I’m thinking about. For now, I’m sitting here rocking my bumblebee socks and working on the foundation. 🔥 If you’ve been through cancer, what support did you most need? What was the most helpful for you? What wasn’t? I have a big vision for how I want to help people with the foundation but also know everyone’s needs are different. My needs were mostly financial (my GoFundMe is still open if you feel called to support me!) but others might need something different. If you feel like sharing your experience I’d be grateful! Taylor has struggled a fair bit. The first month was especially hard on Taylor she struggled to settle into school, new lessons and make new friends. Taylor is not overly social she had a small group of friends at home and enjoyed that. Taylor has made friends in school but not close friends. School is challenging but that’s because she is in her first year of ATAR and it’s tough going. A lot of her time is spent on homework after school. Taylor loves gaming and watching films. Not many people seem to be into gaming here, she has tried to find them in school but they don’t seem to be about. She did find a small gaming group but their idea of gaming was Candy Crush 😂. Taylor has changed a lot in the sense of she is more open and willing to go out of her comfort zone. I had days of her crying in my arms the first few weeks but now she is a lot better. We are so proud of here smashing school and just getting on with it. Nothing has been too much for her. Taylor is very much a comfort person she misses all her little comforts from the UK. Malteasers apparently they taste like fart here. Iceland curry’s there is no cheap quick microwave meals here. Certain pop she likes, Dr Pepper being one. I think the younger your kids are the better as they adapt to the life here a lot quicker. Bringing teenagers here is hard, be prepared for that. Mentally prepare them and let them know what to expect as much as you can. We felt terrible as parents bringing her here and putting her in that position when she was doing so well in the UK but we see the bigger picture. 3 months in she is doing ok, 6 months down the line she will be better and continue to be. So we pulled Lemonade from her training program. 😢 The trainer was refusing to talk to us and explain her “methods” from what we could tell from what she did tell us her applied her method indiscriminately to all the dog and her method was based on the false idea that dogs are pack animals with alpha leaders based on dominance. From what we can tell her method was to force dogs into submission which we were not ok with. Day 4 of the Wapta Traverse we had to turn back due to incoming storms that made the Balfour high col impassable (overhead seracs and open crevasses are not to be navigated in poor visibility, at least not by this girl!). This meant that we only completed 3/4 of the traverse, but had an extra night at the Bow hut and some really fun powder turns on the way back!! We skied out from Bow hut on Day 5!
