Improvising over a blues while playing boogie woogie piano in the left hand. Practicing this was kicking my butt for a long time! This clip was taken from the ""Jazz as World Music"" concert I did at @musicfsu in Tallahassee earlier this month. This part of the program featured the composition ""Roll Em"" written by the great Mary Lou Williams. I never thought I'd be playing boogie woogie on stage in front of an audience, but when the gig calls for it you've got to deliver! The first 4 are played with the Jazz band, 1st video is “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder 2nd is “Gospel” by Carl Strommen 3rd is “Work Song” by Nat Adderley 4th is “Song for My Father” by Horace Silver 5th and 6th videos are “48 Studies of Saxaphone Etude 1 and 2” by Eric Sokolowski.
