Day 1 in Kalbarri at the cliffs and the flies, the flies, the flies! This was our first stop experiencing them... holy. The area is epic so we just donned our nets and saw it all! “Paws For A Moment“ - This perfect Short-beaked Echidna standing high as it slowly waddles around in Melbourne! The front cover shot of my first Australian wildlife book. With this shot I was watching this echidna moving around dense bushes trying to search out ants, it was never in a good position for a photo but I saw it moving towards a section that had a small opening, thinking to myself “It would be absolutely stunning if it came through and stood up on this log”. I sat there and waited, it kept changing directions and never looked like it was going to come out into the open, and then finally, the echidna started making a v-line towards the log. Once it popped up on there, for around 5 seconds it had a quick sniff in the air, looked around, and then moved on. I’ve found premeditating what wildlife will do and where they’ll go has helped my photography a lot, sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t, but if you’re already set up waiting in the right position then most of the work is already done, and all you have to do is press your finger down to take the photo. However, other times you’re just laying there for long periods of time hoping, and the wildlife just decides to leave in the opposite direction, at those times I just say to myself “always next time then I guess mate”, when it’s still a great experience being in the presence of any wildlife regardless of a photo or not. Wheeny Gap Falls within Wollemi National Park is a gratifying experience. Despite the challenging descent down the steep path, the effort is unquestionably worth it. A short drive from the eastern outskirts of Canberra lies this meandering ‘out and back’ walk along the Molonglo River. Winding through pine and eucalyptus for 3.2 kms, you’ll eventually reach the Blue Tiles picnic area—a great spot for a mid-walk break. Wie viel kostet ein Städtetrip mach Sydney? Wir haben zusammen insgesamt 488€ ausgegeben, was einen Tagesdurchschnitt von 61€ pro Person bedeutet. 💸 🛌🏨Bei der Unterkunft haben wir versucht so günstig wie möglich zu bleiben und waren in einem 8er-Dorm-Room. 🍽️☕️Auch wenn wir dort abends drei mal selber gekocht haben, waren wir Nachmittags immer unterwegs und daher oft in Cafés für einen kleinen Snack. 🚉⛴️Das Öffentliche-Verkehrsmittel-System in Sydney ist super einfach zu bedienen und gilt sogar für die Fähren. Man bezahlt einfach mit der Kreditkarte beim Ein-und Aussteigen, wodurch wir aber auch ein wenig den Überblick über die tatsächlichen Kosten der einzelnen Fahrten verloren haben. Vorallem die Fahrten zum Flughafen waren etwas teurer. 🎻⚡️Unter Aktivität fällt unser Besuch im Sydney Opernhaus zu Harry Potter in Concert. The first caravan park after a free camp at the beach always feels amazing... showers plus we had GRASS which means we can clean the floor without having to worry about the sand and dirt being walked right back in! But Dongara/Port Denison was bliss for other reasons as well - we had sunset ocean views from our site AND the park put on a free pancake breaky.
