Tasmania series: TASMAN PENINSULA 🌋 A pair of pups in a rock pool. The pups all hang out together under the watchful eyes of their mothers, in the shallow rock pools by the Tasman Peninsula cliffs. In this protected environment, they are able to learn the skills they need to survive as adults. Seals stay with their mothers for up to a year before they are ready to venture out by themselves. 🥹🦭👼🏼🖤 ~~~~~~~ #tasmania #tasmanpeninsula #tassie #tassiepics #tassiegram #tassieoffseason #tasmaniaaustralia #tasmaniagram #discovertasmania #tasmaniaparks #tasmaniawhyweloveit #instatasmania #visittasmania #pennicott #pennicottjourneys #pennicottwildernessjourneys #seals #seal #sealsofinstagram #sealspotting #sealpup #sealpups

Tasmania series: TASMAN PENINSULA 🌋 A gorgeous seal pup. All fur seals are summer babies, as mothers are able to delay their pregnancies until summer months when pups have the best chance of survival. Our first waterfall shots off the new camera! What a place to test it out than the Three Falls walk in Mt Field National Park. We’ve always wanted to get some long exposure waterfall shots but our last camera just didn’t have the capabilities. It was so much fun playing with the settings. What do you think of the results?! Omphalotus nidiformis - AKA Ghost mushrooms. It’s been a slow start to the season down south in Tasmania. But FINALLY they are here. 2 days ago I went walking around in a area where they have treated me really well over the years and came across a few. Went back last night and they were near dead. So change of played went to another spot in the area and had to look in the dark which just makes things more ummmmm let’s say frustrating haha but I guess that’s what had to be done. Lucky enough I came across a few more as they were very far and wide between patches. Mt Hugel is a truly spectacular walk. Lots of fungi, little alpine gardens of cushion plant and tarns and pencil pines, boulders and more boulders, and a lot of yellowing fagus. Thankfully the weather was better for Mt Hugel today than yesterday’s King William. The moment we got to the top, however, and I got out my gold cloak, the mist temporarily swirled around the summit. Lady Eugenie is your well-appointed retreat whilst on our Wineglass Bay Signature Walk. She is a luxurious, 23-metre (75-ft) ketch-rigged yacht and is five metres wide which makes her stable, safe and comfortable for both novices and sailing enthusiasts. Her clipper bow, complete with a bowsprit you can walk on, is perfect for watching dolphins and other marine life. With beautifully maintained teak decks and classically varnished handrails, Lady Eugenie’s spacious decks are the perfect setting for relaxing and taking in the scenery. The central cockpit provides plenty of comfortable seating, with a picturesque alfresco dining setting: a magical place to take in the sunset.

Rock the Cradle of Love The Grey Fantail is a little bird that most of us would be very familiar with and encounter regularly as bird photographers. They're in pretty much every habitat and are very predictable, which makes them a great subject to photograph. Yes, they are quick, but what they often do when they're on the hunt is perch and lift off, and then return to the same spot. The trick is to focus on where they keep returning to and wait. When it's a quiet day on the birding front, there will more often than not be a fantail around to keep you engaged. And they are very photogenic little bird. . . . Numerous birds of southern Australia are characterised by a known biogeographical barrier, the Nullarbor Plain, displaying morphological divergence of subspecies differentiation. Because of the east-west division due to the geographic barrier effect on their morphological divergence, the populations of R. albiscapa could be classified into five subspecies by their characteristics, such as their calls, patterns of plumage, and nest construction. There are five subpopulations of R. albiscapa Rhipidura albiscapa keasti (eastern Australia) Rhipidura albiscapa albicauda (Inland western Australia) Rhipidura albiscapa preissi (South western Australia) Rhipidura albiscapa alisteri (eastern Australia) Rhipidura albiscapa albiscapa (Tasmania) The southeastern populations of R. albiscapa in Australia and Tasmania are migratory. The subpopulation of R. a. albiscapa breeds mainly in Tasmania. When winter comes, they migrate to New South Wales and form groups with other sub-populations of R. a. alisteri. ~ Wikipedia . . . . #henslowespark #greyfantail #migratorybirds #pocketbirds #localbigyear #abcmyphoto #birdplanet #birds #ig_birdphotography #birdphotographer #feathers_of_australia #wildoz #wildlifetasmania #naturephotographer #i_spy_birds #wildlifephotography #nuts_about_birds #birdlifephotographyaustralia #birdlifeaustralia #birdsofinstagram #birdlifeoz #mynikonlife #NikonD500 📸 #nikonbirds #tasmaniaparks #northwesttasmania

✨ Sun kissed autumn days in Tassie ✨⛰️💙🧡 Tasmania during fall has always been on my bucketlist. It can be quite rainy but if you’re lucky you’ll get some absolute stunning days in the sun overviewing yellow + orange coloured mountains. ⛰️🍂 In the past week I’ve spend some time capturing the colours of the Fagus around Cradle Mountain Nationalpark. Here you can take the loop track around Dove Lake (2-3hr, 6km) or spend a couple of hours walking to Crater Lake. My tip: I’ve had the best views from Marions Lookout while I was heading towards the Cradle Mountain summit. It’s been the most gorgeous summer across Tasmania this year. Warm, sunny and dry. The sort of weather that tugs you away for a road trip, camp out, beach swim, again and again. Now as the season transitions to autumn I can only be grateful for so many lovely days, while embracing the cool change. Not sure I’m thrilled about winter just yet. I’m easing into it. Snow gum in late afternoon light. I was looking through the book, the World of Olegas Truchanas last night, and it got me thinking about the tendency for wanting perfection in modern photographs. Truchanas' photos are stunning, and include extreme chromatic aberration, very soft corners and are full of the character that old lenses produce. I wonder whether modern photographs are a little too perfect? Why do we want sharp front to back images? Back in my happy place on the Overland Track and it’s always been my dream to walk it with my little family … but let’s just say this trip was a lesson in resilience building! Packing up wet tents, leeches, big packs … but moody landscapes, beautiful waterfalls and new found walking friends with fellow adventurers! I missed seeing my favourite mountains … but I’m so proud of Poppy and James for walking 65 kilometres over six days. 🌧️🌧️ Quotes from the week: ‘Mum, I could have been in school right now, instead of this rainy, wet place’. ‘Keep on going James’. ‘My feet are wet’. ‘How far have we walked?’ ‘Are we there yet?’ ‘Can I have a Gummy Bear?’ ‘Do we have to camp tonight?’ ‘I’m hungry’. @n1cd4vies Thank you @wildislandhire for kitting out the kids and @144bear for the transfers! x #tasmaniaparks
