APAA advisor Victoria Burns (@victoriaburnsart) brought to life a client’s living room with the installation of a breathtaking piece by Lee Bul. “A cross between painting and sculpture, compositions from the artist’s “Perdu” series are composed of thick layers of acrylic paint and mother-of-pearl that are sanded down to reveal the abstracted forms. Our client’s living room was brought to life with the installation of this breathtaking Lee Bul. A cross between painting and sculpture, compositions from the artist’s “Perdu” series are comprised of thick layers of acrylic paint and mother-of-pearl that are sanded down to reveal the abstracted forms. This innovative process creates a shimmering surface that seems otherworldly, while also reminiscent of more traditional Abstract Expressionist techniques. From further away, a biomorphic form acts as the focal point of the composition; while up close, endless speckles of color and sparkling mother of pearl form a constellation one can get lost in for hours.
