J Y L L 1966- Jyll Bradley Nato a Folkestone, Inghilterra, ha conseguito un BA presso il Goldsmith’s College, University of London, e un BFA presso la Slade School of Art, University of London Inghilterra. Nella sua pratica artistica Jyll realizza installazioni, film, disegni e sculture. Il suo lavoro è emerso per la prima volta alla fine degli anni ‘80 all’interno di un gruppo di artisti interessati a combinare il vigore formale del minimalismo con idee di identità e luogo. La luce è stata una protagonista costante nella sua pratica, dalle sue prime installazioni fotografiche con lightbox al suo lavoro con il plexiglass fluorescente. Attraverso un processo di “minimalismo queering” il suo lavoro innesta narrazioni personali con materiali futuristici reattivi alla luce. Le commissioni pubbliche di Jyll tra cui The Hop, per la Hayward Gallery, Green/Light (per M.R.) per la Triennale di Folkestone e Dutch/Light per Turner Contemporary, fanno riferimento a strutture generative come giardini di luppolo e serre, esprimendo ciò che vede come il lavoro pratico, spirituale ed emotivo coinvolto nella crescita del senso di sé, del luogo o della comunità. Le sue sculture sono diventate sempre più luoghi di attività come la danza e la performance. Jeannette MacDougall @jeanetee & I partnered to create Studio Comfort Texas. After 3 good years, our lives and goals diverged. #StudioSunday with VITA KARI Vita is a multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles who explores themes of digital identity, diasporic experience, queerness, and consumerism. Their practice is comprised of illusion-centered video work, performance, textile, sculpture, and painting. In Vita’s recent series, the artist reimagines their grandmother’s rugs, crafting tapestries that simultaneously incorporate Middle-Eastern motifs and contemporary imagery - among them foodstuffs, technological devices, and Y2K figures. In their own words, “the series elicits narratives of diaspora, family, and memory through a hyper-feminine queer lens.” Vita is the founder of VITAWOOD LA, an immersive community art space. They have hosted performances nationally, and been featured in exhibitions at ULO World, Goodmother Gallery, and Yiwei Gallery in Los Angeles.
