We've got you covered! 🎥 Register to watch the recording and explore LBC PROJECT MANAGEMENT + EU/UK REGULATIONS with Emmanuel Pauwels & Emmanuelle Maire. Emmanuel returned for his second lesson of the Masterclass to share his experience in managing an LBC project. He spoke about the need for synergy and integration among a wider stakeholder group than in non-LBC building projects and the kind of leadership required to manage that complexity. LBC projects can often veer into the territory of "unknown, unknowns" (requiring creative problem identification) and thus require a facilitator who can help the group develop a shared vision with system awareness and strategic conversation mediation. During the question and answer period, it was asked how to get clients on-board and Emmanuel pointed to the wisdom of meeting people where they are and in doing so getting to a deeper understanding of what the client cares about. During the second half, Emmanuelle from the European Commission, walked us through the network of EU regulation related to the built environment, particularly within the circular economy purview, the waste framework directive, and the European Green New Deal. She reported that 75% of the EU building stock has poor energy performance and emphasized the need for focus on building renovation. [ #LFE décrypte l’UE] 📢 Le 12 avril, le ministre de la Transition écologique Christophe Béchu a confirmé l’application de la loi d’assouplissement du zéro artificialisation nette (ZAN). Il a annoncé la liste des 167 grands projets industriels qui seront exemptés de la loi ZAN, car « bons pour l’écologie ». Cela pourrait concerner par exemple une usine de batteries, qui permettrait « d’éviter d’en importer depuis la Chine. » 💵 Avec le « Plan industriel du Pacte vert pour l’ère du zéro émission nette », l’UE entend se placer comme leader dans les technologies « vertes ». La transition écologique, et plus précisément énergétique, apparaît bien comme au cœur de la stratégie européenne d’investissement dans l’industrie et la R&D. Néanmoins, la focale semble largement mise sur les innovations de rupture à fort contenu technologique, en délaissant massivement d’autres formes d’innovations. ⚖ Une telle approche qui fait écho au discours technosolutionniste ignore les potentiels effets contreproductifs de certaines technologies, notamment l’impact environnemental des infrastructures et ressources nécessaires à leur développement. After 9.5 hours of racing, I missed the podium by 47 seconds. 2nd ultra of the year, 2nd 4th place finish. 65km of “fun” over 3500m of elevation in the Lake District including a very spicy ascent of Scafell from Boot (via Slight Side) in my last pre-season race before the serious ones begin. Still some learning to do on pacing (not going out too hard) and I definitely need to work on settling my stomach. Presented with though provoking questions like, "are all manufacturers polluters?" and "can positive products truly exist?" we explored the precautionary principle and the value of transparency. Carlo introduced the ILFI Red List of toxic and harmful materials and then presented us with the Living Product Challenge's concept of hand-printing and how it differs from concepts like the carbon footprint. In the second module, Dimitra took us around the world with case studies of innovative rainwater management projects, urban hanging gardens, micro-wetlands, river restoration projects, tiny-forests, and much more. Her talk culminated with her latest fascinating project where the 2000 year old Hadrian aqueduct is being brought back to life as part of Athen's climate resilience and heat reduction plan. I got to know that every year, for design week, @kohler gives opportunities to artists & designers to spend some time in their factory to get inspired and use all available materials; to come up with something for the design week. This year, we met @davidthefranklin who has passion for fish; as he believes they represent the importance of fresh clean water we all depend on. He used all wood carved fish, moulded and plastered to create such an inviting piece of art. Fish symbolize good luck & wealth. Fish symbolize the subconscious mind & emotions. Fish represent the adaptability, flexibility, and the capacity to navigate life’s challenges and changes. Nos collègues et quelques amis et membres de la famille se sont entraînés pendant des semaines pour obtenir un excellent résultat. Nous nous sommes inscrits comme d'habitude par l'intermédiaire de Sportoase et nous tenons à les remercier pour l'excellente organisation ! Nous avons également pu récolter une belle somme pour Lyreco for Education. Ce programme, fondé il y a 15 ans, collecte des fonds pour permettre aux enfants défavorisés d'avoir un meilleur accès à l'éducation.
