Today we took a 20L bucket of rosellas, some morning glory and some salt bush cuttings to Grow Make Bake at Deception Bay. We met with lots of lovely local garden and preserving enthusiasts. We traded the produce from the garden for some great local goods and plants. Among these are more pineapple plants, lemongrass cuttings, choko seedlings, tomato seedlings, a young seed grown mango tree, eggplant plant and some rhubarb plants. These will all be planted in the community garden over the coming days. Grow Make Bake is a lovely local initiative to create an opportunity for locals to connect and share produce. It all felt so River Cottage that I am in love with the whole thing. There are many similar lovely community groups and initiatives. As a young club, it’s not often we get to celebrate milestones as big as this. On Friday night, Dale Dyson became just the sixth player to reach the 200 game milestone for our club. Reaching this milestone is a true testament of Dyso’s loyalty to the Lakers and we’ve been filled with pride to watch his progress over the years from U9s through to our senior squad. 🗳️ Voters Urged to Bring Photo ID to the Polls to Elect New Mayor Voters are being urged to ensure that they bring photo identification in next month’s mayoral election for York and North Yorkshire following a national crackdown to tackle electoral fraud. The Government introduced the requirement from May last year for voters to bring a form of photo ID to polling stations to prove their identity. The election next Thursday, will appoint a powerful figurehead for York and North Yorkshire to bring more decision-making powers and millions of pounds in funding to the region. The photo must be a good likeness of the voter, and identification can still be used even if it has expired. North Yorkshire Council and City of York Council will be running the election in the two local authority areas.
