I didn’t know him before visiting, but there is a very interesting story behind his huge mural on the wall. Requiem pays tribute to Khadija Saye and remembers the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire. This day marks 30 years since Black South Africans triumphed over the oppressive apartheid regime. It is a celebration, a dawning of a hopeful new era of equality, justice, and freedom for all South Africans. For decades, Black South Africans endured oppression, discrimination, violence and racial segregation under the all-white government. Remembering Deputy Sheriff Alfredo "Freddy" Flores of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, California End of Watch Saturday, April 20, 2024 From the Officer Down Memorial Page: Deputy Sheriff Freddy Flores succumbed to injuries sustained six months earlier as the result of a fire inside a mobile shooting range at the Pitchess Detention Center in the 29300 block of The Old Road in Castaic. He and another deputy were inside the mobile shooting range, built inside a 53-foot semi-trailer when an equipment malfunction ignited a fire at about 9:30 am on October 10th, 2023. They both suffered severe burns before being rescued by fellow deputies and transported to a local hospital. Deputy Flores succumbed to his injuries on April 20th, 2024. Deputy Flores had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, and siblings. 25th April, marking ANZAC Day 2024. The Last Post (A bugle call) resounds, followed by a two-minute silence, which is then concluded with the 'Rouse', a final ending bugle call. ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day, a National Day of Remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who sacrificed in all wars, conflicts, peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of those who have served. Observed on 25 April each year, Anzac Day was originally devised to honor the ANZAC members who served in the Gallipoli campaign, their first engagement in the First World War (1914–1918). Poor blokes, drafted by the British Empire to battle, unknown to them of the impending doom that awaits them in Gallipoli. The thoughts of a swift allied victory costing 500000 troops, unfortunately resulted in a loss, with the retreat of all Entente units. Though the Gallipoli campaign failed, news of the landing at Gallipoli awakened the national consciousness of Aussies and Kiwis at home, bequeathing an intangible but powerful legacy that remembered the heroic actions of the ANZAC troops. In the Second World War, ANZAC troops assisted the Brits again and battled in the Battle of Greece, Battle of Al Alamein, the Malayan campaign, Kokoda Track Campaign, Battle of Coral Sea as well as in Borneo. Other conflicts include the Boer War, Boxer rebellion, Malayan Emergency, Borneo Confrontation, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timorese Crisis, Syria, Marawi Crisis, ISIL war and the current war in Ukraine. All we had was a glimpse of your final resting place. For 17 years, I've held onto this visual memory of you. The memories of our cherished moments together, from my childhood, remain vivid in my mind. I really wish you were still here, but I trust in God's plan, even when it's hard to understand. You were more than just a father; you were loving, caring, and deeply compassionate. Family and faith were your utmost priorities, and you ensured that everyone felt included and valued. Wir gedenken denen, die ihr Leben beenden mussten, weil sie nicht mehr mit dieser Erkrankung leben konnten. Ich denke an ihre Hinterbliebenen & an euch alle. Suizidale Gedanken durch diese Erkrankung sind häufiger als viele denken. Die PMDS ist eine tückische, unsichtbare Erkrankung, die zum Tod führen kann. Es ist wichtig, die Sichtbarkeit & Ernsthaftigkeit dieser Störung zu entstigmatisieren.
