In the shadows of twilight, I stroll alone, A solitary figure, on a path unknown. Beneath the canvas of the dusky sky, Whispers of solitude, as the world goes by. Each step, a rhythm with the beating heart, Footprints on the pavement, a silent art. The city lights shimmer, distant and cold, Yet, in my solitude, a story unfolds. The streets echo with tales untold, Of dreams pursued and secrets hold. As the night envelops, a cloak of peace, I find solace in the quiet release. Today's challenge -- "minimalist room design". 🛋️ For some reason, this challenge made me think of when I first started dating my ex years and years ago when I was still in my 20s. So... story time. Decór-wise, he claimed to be a minimalist who just really liked open spaces, clean designs, and minimal clutter. And I thought, "OK, cool. I can probably vibe with that." But then I actually went over to his house for the first time. What he thought of as "minimalist" was actually just empty. Actually... LITERALLY... no place to sit. Absolutely nothing on any of the walls. The few towels and linens he owned were all stark white. Very few usable items. No TV, no furniture, no lamps... nothing. There was this very, very basic futon he slept on. And then just randomly placed in a couple of empty corners were a guitar and a huge weight bench like you'd see in a gym. (My ex was neither in shape, nor did I ever see any evidence that he can actually play a guitar.) Save for the random guitar and weight bench, this apartment felt like a cross between a hospital room in a psych ward and a prison cell. And I assure you this was a CHOICE, as opposed to a lack of funds or decorating know-how. It turned out he just didn't believe in owning any objects, doing anything with your spare time, or caring about comfort. The whole vibe was honestly kind of creepy. And, looking back, it was probably my first (and biggest) red flag that this guy was super weird and that maaaaaybe I shouldn't keep dating him. 🙄 So with this set, I was thinking a bit about that experience. And it made me want to explore the difference between a minimalist room and a room that's "just empty". Like, what is it? Is it a lack of furniture, a vibe, or something else entirely? That said, some of these rooms are meant to be true minimalist rooms. But others are supposed to feel a bit lonely, uncomfortable, unfinished, or maybe just off... like something's not right there. In this increasingly chilling atmosphere, something to reside on are the memories from this year's #pushkarfair2021🏜 and even during the corona times, it's managed well to attract many a visitors comparatively to the last year's cancelled event.
