There is a magic that happens when you let go and trust the universe... There are a few moments in time when I can recall thinking “What on Earth is going on right now and how am I going to get through this!”... And then I take a deep breath and let go... As if the current will carry me down the river to the calmer waters… To place trust in the universe like this is a humbling experience… I can recall this moment during labor. I remember thinking “I don’t want to do this anymore!… What have I done!” But you can go back. The only way past is to go through… There are moments in time that change the direction of our lives. The moment I became a mother, my perspective on time changed. I realized that how I had been spending mine was no longer appealing to me. I wanted to spend every moment I could with my new little blessing. And so I went back to the drawing board on how I earned money. I opened myself up to other possibilities that I knew nothing about! Digital Marketing with a business model called Ghost Commerce. There are days when I think… “What am I doing!” Lol! and I want to quit… but then I’d fail… So instead I rethink, jump on a coaching call or into our community and come at the task from a different angle and try again. Two years ago life flipped on its head for my family we had just found out mums breast cancer had metastasised in her body, little did we know she would only be with us for 4 more short weeks. She passed as I was in transit to see her, I didn’t get to tell her the things I wanted to tell her, I didn’t get to hug her tight just one last time, I didn’t get to tell her I loved her more than she ever knew. That period of time served so many lessons. I wish I had these words tucked in my pocket then ✨ Listen. The world will test your patience day in and day out. Some days will feel overwhelming. Some seasons with feel confusing. Hold your head, guard your heart, and stop looking for the easy way out - because avoidance might feel ‘easy’ in the moment, but it only makes things worse in the end. The only way out is through it….. Two years down the road, the pain of mum not being here remains, but the regret, the grief of not making it to her side is healing. Today marks a very significant moment in my life that changed my thinking on health & being well & Not just take meds to mask my symptoms. In that scary life changing moment all I could think of was “I’m going to leave my kids without a mom & my husband without a wife!” “I’m going to miss it all!” Lots of prayers were said that day for me & my family and they were answered. I thank God he had other plans for me. ❤️🙏🏼 Plans that meant more time with my family. Plans that meant opening my heart to 2 children I didn’t conceive but loved with all my heart. Plans to watch my kids grow and be able to teach them and learn along side them. Plans to help other find hope in their own healing & health journey. You never know why God brings situations into your life or how he’ll use it to bring hope, life and healing to others but if we are willing to share the miracles HE’S given us he’ll use them to HIS GLORY every time. So today I walked my 2.8 miles with a smile on my face & a heart full of gratitude for all my blessings. Yesterday I cried…. Yesterday was a day that I will never forget that will forever change me, a day I grew as a person. Yesterday was not the first time I have been faced with families who have very little and live happily. In 2008, I traveled solo to Guatemala and took a mountain bike tour around Lake Atitlan, where we met local indigenous families. I remember the one room homes with dirt floors, I remember the children without shoes, books or pencils and I immediately wanted to fly back to the US and return with suitcases packed with these simple necessities. Yesterday I wasn’t traveling and witnessing the struggle as I was passing through on a tour. I felt the despair to my core as I know these families and have built relationships with them over the last 2.5 years. These families want what we all want the best for their children, they work hard to provide for their families and there isn’t alot of extra money left behind when all the bills are paid. Costa Ricans are facing the same problems many are feeling in the US, higher priced gas and food, and when you don’t have much this can feel overwhelming. We as a society have come to joke about 1st world problems, and many don’t see that not having your wants is a 1st world problem, much of the world is only trying to find enough money to cover their needs, and for many that is enough to keep them happy. When people talk about moving to another country they often talk about how fun and exciting it is, there is little discussion about how humbling it can be. No one tells you how your view on the world will change and your heart will grow in a whole new direction. The skirt #top40 Dan Mohr and I co-created a series called collision_theory from 2008-2014, bringing together improvising dancers and musicians in blind date performances. One collision brought together Darrell Jones and Kirstie Simson with Technical Drawings at Links Hall (“old” Links Hall now). #storytime During the performance, Darrell and Kirstie were dancing intricate, athletic duets while also playing and singing together. If I remember this right, at one point Darrell took Kirstie’s elastic-waisted skirt and put it on. It changed everything. Darrell threw an amazing, theatrical fit. There was stamping, there was yelling, there was flailing. Audience members who had been unsure of how to watch the performance were wide-eyed and grinning. Even the musicians were thrown. Then Kirstie calmly removed the skirt, Darrell quietly said “thank you”, and the skirt persona disappeared. In the post show discussion that Peter Carpenter moderated I remember talking about our role as the audience. INSPIRATION Can you remember the exact moment that inspired you to start something? Our lives and paths are often shaped by those we meet and the unforgettable moments we experience. This is one of my "exact moments". A few years back while on an assignment, I was following hippo trails through the magical Kosi forests with Jerome, one of the talented guides from Kosi Forest Lodge, to try find an elusive Narina Trogon he heard calling nearby. When we finally found a Narina Trogon that was in clear view, I was absolutely blown away by its beauty - it was an incredible and unforgettable experience that sparked my interest in birds. I now find myself noticing and appreciating more of the beauty that the natural world has to offer and it has ultimately made my life a lot more colourful. ⚡️One Moment Can Change A Day, One Day Can Change A Life⚡️ . . ⚡️I will never forget this subway underpass and the brief exchange I had with a young man on a bike, when I stepped in front of him distracted and about to make a call. He sweetly apologized for stopping so close to me on his bike and off he went. I popped in my headphones and continued to walk down the street. Moments later I saw him off his bike and crouched over, he had moved away from his bike to an adjacent set of stairs and that’s when I noticed the blood. So much blood 🩸I ran over to him, asked him to show me where he was bleeding from: his hand. He cut himself quite deeply on the handrail - the underside of it being as sharp as a razor when rubbed against at such speed. I told him he would need to get to a hospital and I will get him there once I bound his wound. I got paper towels from the next door convenience store, bound his hand, got him to elevate it and called my sister to bring a bucket and towel and meet us in a round about on the other side of the condo. I got his bike and moved to the round about as my sister arrived. My nephew took the bike to my condo and we took him to the hospital. He got the mom experience times two as we reassured him we will get him there safety. We brought him to the emergency and I helped sign him in. We exchanged numbers after he was registered and into see a nurse for a good number of stitches. Going through this together we are likely to never forget each other. This past week we celebrated Bulgarian Independence Day, March, 3... The democracy made us kids of the world, and we took it really serious. Today was “I need a hug day” and bed time routine finished round 10pm with hug 5000’lost count....🤷🏼♀️ Every time I closed his bedroom door he would ask for one more hug, as soon as I would get to my bed I would hear ‘Mammy, I need one more hug’ 🤐 Was I tired? Hell yes... Did I just wanted to shout ‘Thats it enough sleep time!’ trust me I did....😔 But instead I went over laid beside him and gave him as many hugs as he wanted...for some reason today he needed reassurance, closeness and feeling safe...and all that can be provided with a hug🤱🏼 There is another reason why I cant refuse a hug.... Hugs hold special place in my ❤️ I can still remember the hug that started it all...14,5 years ago I got a last hug from my beat friend who now I believe is my guardian angel... I can still feel that hug round me at times, hear that casual ‘see you tomorrow’ as he drove off.... tomorrow for him never come, and for me that hud is the reason I am who I am and why I always say ‘love you’ to loved one no matter where I am instead of good buy and hug them as many times as they want even if I am running late, as I never know one of them hugs might be the last one....❤️

. There are moments in our lives that we evolve + that simply change us forever. Experiencing the Himalayas, Nepal, Mount Everest + the Khumbu Ice Falls not only brought me to tears with its magic and beauty it was a pivotal journey in my soul. #tbt to 2013 . It was here that I learned about possibility and the courage to really dream with my whole heart. It was here, that I began to follow my true calling into joy + exploration of the things in life that passionately lit my core up. It didn’t happen over night and there were moments I was terrified and lacked trust in the big picture/Universe, I probably took more cautious baby steps that I could have; but I took a step and then another. I quit my 9-5, waited tables, and went back to college. I studied fine art + painting which eventually led me back to Graphic Design, where my joy always resided and what I had started 16 year prior when my daughter was first born. Then I took another leap and trusted that I could do this! . Through an art “playdate” with my new friend, @stephjohnson she asked me to take a stab at designing her album #MusicIsArt, @TiaKelly had me create her rebrand, and then I just kept going with each referral. Now, I’m here in the journey and doing what I love everyday. . That feeling when the client lights up when they fall in love with what you create for them….when they feel and see their dream captured and brought to life, THAT smile, THAT feeling, THAT moment! THAT is what I call CREATING JOY through DESIGN. THAT is pure bliss and THAT is why/how Nepal brought me home.
