Nacula Island was a dream. Recap Woche 13: I‘m on Fiji time right now. 😴 Hier drehen sich die Uhren auf jeden Fall deutlich langsamer und alles passiert zu der Zeit, zu der es passieren soll. Eine ziemliche Umstellung für mich, die es gewohnt ist, pünktlich zu allen Terminen zu erscheinen. Abgestellt bekomme ich das natürlich trotzdem nicht, aber dann muss man manchmal eben ne Stunde warten bevor es wirklich los geht (am Strand in der Hängematte aber durchaus aushaltbar). Ansonsten geht hier aber noch eine kleine Liebeserklärung an die Fidschis raus: Ich hatte mich auf 2 Wochen am Strand liegen eingestellt, aber hier gibt es wirklich so viel zu unternehmen: Tauchen, tolle Schnorchelspots, Wanderungen, Dorfbesuche, Einheimische, die einem das Leben hier näher bringen… Ganz große Fidschi-Liebe 🇫🇯🤍 1) Wanderung auf Nacula Island zum Sonnenuntergang: egal wie bewölkt es den Tag über ist, die Sonnenuntergänge überzeugen immer 🌅 2) Ein paar Nemos an einem der schönen Riffe beim Tauchen gespottet 3) Mein erster Stop: Mantaray Island Resort 4) Der Sternenhimmel über den Fidschis ist immer wieder einfach atemberaubend ✨ 5) Schönsten Aussichten während einer Fährfahrt 6) Ich denke an die verschiedenen Blautöne des Wassers werde ich mich wohl nie gewöhnen 7) Zweiter Stop: Safe Landing Lodge 8) Kleines Café im Abendlicht 9) Sonnenuntergänge auf Fidschi enttäuschen nicht 10) Besuch bei einem kleinen Dorf . . . #sabbatical #weltreise #fijiislands #fijinow #explorefiji #awesomeadventuresfiji #fiji #divingtrip #openwaterdiver #scubadiving #divingfiji #nanuyabalavuisland #mantarayisland #naculaisland
🇨🇵 Fidji partie 2. Derrière le paysage de carte postale, je dois avouer ne pas avoir choisi la meilleure période pour y aller (Mars, saison des pluies..), la 2e photo 📸 résume très bien la météo : de l'instabilité, des nuages de fortes pluies arrivant par vagues, je n'ai vu le soleil qu' un jour et demi sur 8 ! Le transfert sur l'île de Nacula a été très.. agité et trempé 🤣🌧️, je me réveillais souvent à 6h avec le vent et la pluie digne d'un épisode cyclonique, les activités bateaux étaient parfois annulés à cause de la houle, les routes sur la grande île étaient sujettes aux inondations (rivières qui débordent..qui sait qui a failli être bloquée pour son vol retour ?! ). Est ce que je recommande les Fidji ? Absolument ! Mais peut être pas au mois de Mars 😬 Leçon retenue ! Ce qui n'empêche d'avoir profité du peu de beau temps que j'ai eu (📸 1&3 randonnée sur l'île de Nacula avec la verdure qui ressort super bien !), des rencontres avec les autres voyageurs et avec les locaux 🙏 🇬🇧 Fiji part 2. Behind the postcard landscape, I have to admit that I didn't chose the best period to travel there (March, rainy season..). The 2nd picture 📸 is the perfect illustration : instability, rain coming down in waves, I've seen the sun for 1 day in a half .. on a 8 days vacations ! The boat transfer to Nacula island has been very.. bumpy and wet 🌧️🤣 , the rain often woke me up at 6am because the sounds made me feel like there were a cyclone out there, boat activities were cancelled if the swell was strong, roads on the main island were flooded (I've almost got stucked on the way to the airport bc the rivier overflowed) .. Do I recommand Fiji ? Absolutely ! But not in March 😬 lesson learned ! Return to the blue lagoon 🪸🐠🦈 🏝️ Swimming in the warm waters of the blue lagoon in Fiji, surrounded by colorful fish and corals, was one of my favorite experiences from my first trip to Fiji in 2007. No wonder I couldn’t wait to get back there 15 years later. But before we made our way to Nanuya Island, we enjoyed some more quiet time in the more remote islands of the Yasawa Group from Yasawa-I-Rara (3️⃣4️⃣) to Nacula island (5️⃣6️⃣), where we met the wonderful @schmer and @alan_mccarthy81, probably the first westerners we met since leaving Nadi. We decided to flock together and do as tourists do: we paid a visit to the Sawa-i-Lau caves (7️⃣8️⃣), before we finally made our way to the blue lagoon, where the controversial 80ies movie with Brooke Shields was filmed. Unfortunately, the corals weren’t quite as colorful and the waters not quite as teeming with fish as I remembered (we eventually found the fish, but it did seem like tourism took its toll on the blue lagoon), so changing perspectives and enjoying the views from above seemed like a good idea (1️⃣2️⃣). Next up was a stop near the Drawaqa passage (9️⃣🔟) for another chance to swim with manta rays. While we didn’t see any mantas, there were plenty of fish in this part of the sea and beautiful corals as well as quite a few sea snakes and sharks - fun encounters for a night swim ☺️ #bluelagoon #fijiislands #yasawaislands #wherehappinesscomesnaturally @fijitourism #southpacific #nanuyaisland #drawaqaisland #yasawairara #naculaisland #sawailaucaves #movieset

Moving on from the mainland, I went to the volcanic atols that make up the Yasawa Islands for Christmas last year, specifically @oarsmansbaylodgefiji on Nacula Island. As I said previously, I'm slow with the posts 🤷🏾♂️, but doing things a year to the day is bring back all those good memories. Few more views from Nacula island where I stayed at the locally owned Nabua Lodge. This place had the best atmosphere for me and felt most authentic out of the places I visited at the Yasawas. At Nacula island we did a nice hike with my new travel friends. The small trail took us over the hills on the island and to the other side where a beautiful beach waited for us. On the way back we walked on the sea floor at low tide which was a really cool experience! It turned into a real adventure when we had to get across some water on the other side of the beach and were worried the tide might get too high to get back to our lodge. Pieni polku vei saaren kaikkien kukkuloiden yli toisella puolella olevalle kauniille rannalle. Takastullessa oli mahtava kävellä merenpohjaa pitkin, sillä vuoroveden vuoksi meri oli kaukana. Patikka muuttui kunnon seikkailuksi, kun toisella puolella rantaa pitikin vielä ylittää korkeammalla olevaa vettä ja vähän jännitti olisiko nousuvesi jo niin korkealla kulman takana ettemme pääsisi takaisin lodgellemme.
