THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT (2006) Sean Boswell selalu merasa disisihkan dalam pergaulan, tapi dia menemukan jati dirinya lewat kemenangan dalam balapan liar. Tapi dengan kemunculan sekilas Dom Toretto di akhir film, membuat film ke-3 Fast & Furious ini terhubung kembali dengan alur utamanya, meski harus menunggu tiga film setelahnya. Secara visual, film ini cukup bagus berkat adegan balapan yang impresif. Justin Lin menempatkan gaya visual baru yang menjadi pondasi bagi film-film setelahnya, dimana Lin tetap mempertahankan kolaborasinya dengan Chris Morgan sebagai penulis naskah dan Brian Tyler sebagai pengarah musiknya. Tapi memang, masalah utama kekurangan film ini ada di sisi cerita yang terkesan biasa saja. Disini, Chris Morgan masih belum lihai dalam mengolah naskah dimana para karakternya tampak kurang tergali. Ditambah lagi dengan akting para pemerannya yang datar. Meski begitu, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" menjadi film yang penting di kemudian hari ketika franchise ini semakin sukses. Kisah Han di Tokyo ini ditempatkan di antara "Fast & Furious 6" dan "Furious 7". Il punto più basso della saga ma che ha qualcosa di affascinante, il Giappone. Il film mostra le gare clandestine giapponesi dove viene utilizzata la tecnica del drift e quindi per il nostro eroe Sean sarà importante apprenderlo per vincere in quel territorio. Ovviamente si innamora della ragazza del cattivo locale e farà amicizia con un personaggio che impareremo a conoscere meglio nei prossimi film della saga, ovvero Han. Cultura diversa, stile di guida diversa ma pur sempre un film di Fast and furious con gara finale annessa e spettacolare come sempre. Paga il fatto di non utilizzare nessun personaggio dei primi film tranne sul finale ma all’epoca era solo un cameo simpatico senza piani futuri. Fallon Carrington iş hayatında hırslı, çok zeki ama aynı zamanda oldukça da şımarıktır. Babası Blake Carrington, Cristal adında bir şirket çalışanı ile evlenince Cristal’ı kendine rakip görür ve arkasından çeşitli entrikalar çevirmek suretiyle Cristal’ın hayatlarından çıkması için elinden geleni yapar. FAST AND FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT (2006) Tokyo drift is a little different from the rest of the Fast and Furious films, and for this reason, you can even watch it as a separate movie. The main characters are a couple of teenagers, with American Sean as the protagonist, and it is worth watching the new generation and their love for street racing. What I also appreciated is that before the ending titles it gets clarified that the stunts were performed by professionals, and this is important, since many young people die because of careless driving. At the same time it is the first movie from the franchise that takes place in another country, Japan, and this is something refreshing. In fact getting a licence to shoot in Tokyo was really hard and it got filmed without any permission. So, we have scenes shot in Tokyo and some others in Los Angeles. We don't notice that the location is different and that's impressive. Tokyo Drift was well made in terms of technical aspect and aesthetics. In this film the focus is on the Japanese culture of drifting, instead of speed or crazy stunts like in Fast and Furious 2, and that's fine. It is all about the passion for street racing. There is a romantic scene, where Sean's girl crush, Neela, tells him how much she and her friends as kids liked to watch the big guys drift at the mountains. This scene was captivating! The garage stills with the car racing at start are very aesthetic, while the final race at the mountains is not only visually stunning, but also breathtaking. Without doubt the atmosphere takes everything to another level. Unfortunately the plot is a bit basic and not that innovative. It felt sometimes like a teenage drama. Characters are stereotypical, shallow and underdeveloped. We see no character development, except for Sean and Han. The most memorable performances are these of: Sung Kang as Han, Lucas Black as Sean and Brian Tee as DK. Han's character deviated from the Asian guy stereotype and offered us the depth and moving moments we wanted to see. I loved the finale with the cameo!! All in all, the script has its flaws, but the vibes are magic!
