Nature is calling 📞📞 We cannot wait to be back travelling! We are currently in that sticky saving stage 😭😭 we are working on some potential freelance routes, while also waiting for Aimee’s treatment options. THEN, hopefully we can make some plans. The first flights of the year were booked last week for one of us! Someone close to Aimee has bad health, so it’s been decided she is going away with them! 🇨🇷🌈Everything is colorful in Costa Rica and hummingbirds, one of the many symbols of the country, are no exception. There are 53 species of hummingbirds in Costa Rica, which are distributed throughout the country, mainly at medium and high elevations. They are incredibly fast, their wings move around 60 times per second. Hummingbirds feed on flower nectar, and must consume about three times their body weight every day. They mainly drink sugary nectar, but also obtain protein from small insects. Since they are very fast, it is not easy to spot them in the wild but there are a few places in Costa Rica where you can see them up close. One of these is the Hummingbird Gallery in Monteverde. The gallery is set up on a small hill, it has gardens and feeders for the hummingbird to stop so you can basically find yourself surrounded by these beautiful and colorful creatures. There were so many varieties from green to orange, purple and blue. it was truly magical. I was lucky to go on a rainy day at closing time when no one was around as I imagine this place may get a bit crowded sometimes.
