With their vivid fusion of blue, green, yellow, and red, male Painted Buntings seem to have flown straight out of a rainbow! The bright plumage of the male only comes in the second year of life. The female has a beautiful yellow green wash all over. The painted bunting is a species of bird in the cardinal family, Cardinalidae. It is native to North America. There are two separate breeding populations of Painted Bunting in the United States, one in the south-central U.S.; the other along the Atlantic Coast from North Carolina to central Florida. This species winters in Florida, the Bahamas, Cuba, and Mexico south to Costa Rica and western Panama. Sunkissed Cascade - This shot was from the end of a gorgeous hike in the Columbia River Gorge. The late afternoon light was illuminating this little cascade in a raging tributary to one of the many waterfalls downstream. The water was coming so quickly from all of the snow melt that little beads of water would shoot off and catch the light. I just love coming away from a hike with shots like this. Amphibians are divided into 3 orders: 1) Anura (Frogs and Toads) with 7693 species. 2) Caudata (Salamanders) with 823 species. 3) Gymnophiona (Caecilians) with 222 species. About 41% of them are endangered according to the Red List. This day was established to raise awareness about the importance of conserving these unique and diverse creatures and to highlight the threats they face, such as habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and diseases like Chytridiomycosis (fungus). It's an opportunity to educate people about the importance of protecting amphibians and their crucial role in ecosystems. Many organizations around the world organize events and activities to commemorate this day and promote amphibian conservation. Le lézard à deux raies ou lézard vert connaît un déclin du fait de l'artificialisation des sols. Ces lézards sélectionnent positivement des habitats avec une bonne couverture en arbustes et avec la présence d'abri (comme des tas de branches ou de cailloux). A contrario, ils évitent, les milieux uniformisés et encore plus les sols nus. Voilà pourquoi planter des haies est une solution simple pour aider la biodiversité. On peut aussi laisser un tas de branches dans un coin ou fabriquer un mur en pierre sèche. I was happy to help volunteer with the Surfers Against Sewage beach cleanup today at Bracklesham Bay @surfersagainstsewagesouthcoast. Also visiting a presentation afterwards by @globalsurfclub I've seen worse beaches but there was a lot of small plastic litter and bits of discarded fishing line everywhere as always. 🪻 ☔️ 🐾 April showers, bluebells & and very muddy dog. 🐾❤️ Can’t get more British than that seeing a sweet old couple eating home made sarnies sitting in their open boot with their rain macs on, an ice cream van open for business in a water logged car park in torrential down pour still getting customers - as well as a bunch of school kids walking through the mud doing their Duke Of Edinburgh carrying an armies worth of luggage & a guy stood under a ‘National Trust’ tent in the middle of nowhere.😆😂😜🙃 🪻🪻🪻 As much as England is becoming a harder country to live in - the natural beauty of this land we’ve been blessed with really is stunning - all of this is 15 mins drive from our house!
