It's my project started in 2024 - Axius Book or simply, Axius. The name derives from the Greek word "Axios" (ἄξιος, "worthy", "deserving") used to acclaim, congratulate or honor clerics of ancient Eastern Christian churches such as the Byzantine Orthodox Catholic Churches and Oriental Orthodox Churches in the ordination of bishops, priests and deacons. This name was also chosen because it's similar to one of the best-known typographic families of the last century, Accidenz-Grotesk, by Ferdinand Theinhardt, and distributed by the former German foundry H. Berthold AG from 1898. The font was improved by graphic director of this company, Günter Gehrard Lange (1921-2008) in the 1950s, when it was becoming quite popular. At the end of that same decade, sans serif fonts got a larger market than ever, especially with the release of another family – Helvetica –, which is perhaps the most used, copied and distributed font in the world to date. Axius is directly inspired by AG Buch (1980), a project by Lange; it mixed the design of quoted font families. This new project intends to be a typeface with the characteristics of these previous types and also it corrects their distortions. Axius will be available to use at bodies of text in books and newspapers, with various thicknesses for different optical sizes. 🔦BRAND SPOTLIGHT🔦 Chiller Media! Establishing the visual identity for Chiller took 5ever. I faced a lot of tough questions in regards to how I wanted to be perceived as a brand. The mood board is made up entirely of photos in my camera roll. In search of themes, I noticed a strong pull towards textures, blues and greens, and architectural components. I elected to use a retro modern typeface for the logo and a neo-grotesque font for large text. I threw in Playfair Display for some serif balance. The color palette was built around the light blue and the olive green colors (two colors I enjoy immensely on their own) and the remaining hues bridged the gaps. The seashell and dark green are great neutrals, the light green and blue are pops of color, and the olive is our all purpose shade. I wanted to cultivate a vibe that favors cloudy days, water ripples, and ferns. Retro architecture and familiar fonts.
