Paizley and I have been spending about 30 minutes each night lying in my mom’s bad. Paizley wouldn’t go into my mom’s room till 2 days ago. She was my mom’s dog—always with my mom. She slept with my mom and basically was glued to my mom’s side all day, every day. It’s almost been a month since my mom passed away—it’s been over a month since my mom entered the hospital for the final time. Our Grandma’s obituary @sewlover @mzjnz9 Our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Cheryl Lynn Cordray Jones, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2024. She was 75 years old. Cheryl was the heart and soul of our family. She was the wife of Tim Jones for 57 years (June 17, 1966, in Dowling, MI.) She was mom and best friend to her two children, her daughter Michelle and her son, TJ, as well as mother-in-heart to TJ’s wife, Laura. Cheryl was born on April 30, 1948, in Hastings, Michigan to Louis and Nyla (Strand) Cordray who preceded her in death. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama after spending most of her schooling in the Harper Creek school district. Cheryl spent the last 12 years battling many health issues and did so courageously without complaint. She was an inspiration to those that knew her. Her quiet resolve to continue to live through those difficult battles amazed her doctors and was very much appreciated by her family and friends. Cheryl looked forward to summers when she would travel with her daughter to favorite places such as New Orleans and Savannah. Every morning, she would talk with her son on the phone, sharing their thoughts, prayer requests and daily activities. She would work side-by-side with her husband in the yard and around the house. She was an excellent seamstress and an avid reader. She loved to play Scrabble with her sisters and would say it kept her mind sharp. With the help of her best friend and sister, Lu, she raised her baby brother, Duane and her younger sisters, Jacquie and Fran. They referred to her as their North Star. She also loved her “fur babies”, Maizy, Jozie and Paizley. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family and more importantly, spending time with Jesus and planting seeds of her faith. She was the best wife, mother, sister, and aunt anyone could ever have. My Grandma has decided to stop dialysis as it is not helping her and causing her damaged heart to work even harder. Hospice has been called in and they say she has days to maybe 2-3 weeks. She is on powerful intravenous pain meds and has been sleeping all morning. Our family is devastated. Grandma says she’s ready to meet Jesus. She is looking forward to being reunited with her mom and dad. She will remain in the hospital. Been a rough month—grandma has been in and out of the hospital 6 times. Currently, she has pneumonia, a GI bleed, and an adverse reaction to prednisone which caused confusion, memory loss and delusions. She has been doing dialysis 3 times a week, sometimes 4 times. Paizley is still sleeping with Mama as grandma is still in the hospital. Grandma had dialysis today. They thought she would have to have a blood transfusion due to low red cell counts, but dialysis helped with that. More than likely, she will be in the hospital till Saturday. She and mama are fighting Covid. We are supposed to get 10-14 inches of snow over night and into tomorrow. School has already been canceled. Mama is home all this week due to Covid. Update: Grandma is finally home; she had 11 liters of fluid removed from her lungs. Grandpa is home as well. He had a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted and did well, but is sore. Our Aunt is home as well. She had surgery to help with circulation in her legs. All were in the same hospital yesterday. Mama is off work this week to help out around the house and to take her parents to follow-up appointments. We are happy to have everyone home now.
