The Pavilion offers exhibitions, regular film screenings by Snowcat and a full events schedule including live music. It is also a fabulous wedding venue. The Big Fresh Café at the Pavilion provides fantastic locally sourced food and drink whilst on the Pier you will find Chips and Ice Cream that can be enjoyed by the sea with picturesque views across the Bristol Channel. If the pier holds special memories for you then you may be interested in the Penarth Pier plaque scheme. Fishing is permitted at the end of the pier except during June, July and August. Permits are not required and there is no charge to fish on the pier. A great week out learning and exploring on the water. Completed a 2-day advanced Power Boat course in Portishead including night navigation in the pitch black without the use of electronic plotters… using leading lights and well-prepared passage plans to find waypoints using bearing fixes on the water… all while dodging big cargo ships coming out of the docks into the channel! 😂 Continuing with my yachtmaster theory course, and also a little trip today to do some loops around #flatholm and #steepholm with my boy @osianrudy , escaping back to @penarthmarina just in time to beat the thunderstorms today. ⚡️ Doing a huge amount of learning at the moment which I’m loving… all great knowledge which is just taking my relationship with the sea to new levels. This week: - Our Newport learners participated in a trip with Challenge Wales and sailed on a 72 foot sailboat at Penarth Marina. The learners were taught essential life skills and took part in many activities from teamwork, communication, decision making, and responsibility whilst respecting others on the boat. The learners also learnt how to effectively communicate using sailboat language and hand gestures to ensure the boat sailed smoothly.
