How many times have you heard the advice, "Raise your prices! You need to raise your prices!" I find the internet can create an echo chamber a lot of the time and frankly, that's not always helpful. I mean, maybe you do need to raise your prices. OR maybe you need to think about how to make them sustainable with your style of work... I don't know (unless we chat more, which we can kick off in the comments if you'd like!). I’ve kept this close to my heart, but in the first episode of She Who Paints I share that I almost gave up on my art and myself. For 8 years I did give up. After a beginning a flourishing career in Wellington, New Zealand, moving back to the states 3 years later left me depressed and frustrated. I lacked confidence and business skills in how to chase my dreams. I don’t want other artists to feel that same way and give up on their art just because art school failed them. Being able to see the things we want in our lives is so important! Simply put, you must know what you want in order to receive or achieve it! Having a role model or mentor who is where you want to be can really get you there so much faster. In my most recent podcast episode, my guest and friend, Ana Maria Andricain shares a story about having this quote on a poster on her wall as a child, and how she found her mentor - or one might say her mentor found her in a very serendipitous way! Ana carries on that idea of always helping the next one in line and being a mentor herself. We bring in all the things we want in life when we can actually see them!
