Here is a 6-month transformation, Not a 6-week blitz, where people go from unhealthy eating habits to a restrictive diet In a huge calorie deficit, with awards rewarded at the end. I felt pretty strong on the left, but I was not satisfied with how I looked and felt. 129 moved to a new location, and the birth of my son left me in a place where my priorities changed. I gave myself the excuse that the time and responsibilities I now had were why I was where I was and why I felt the way I did. For the last 15 years, I always trained for performance, but my appearance always affected me. No matter what, how I looked meant something. I promised the members of 129 and my family that I would practice what I preached and apply the principles I believed delivered success. To prove a point to other men and fathers that having the responsibility of others isn't a good enough excuse to let yourself go, and if you want others around you to be better, then you must set an example. I started to feel that no matter how much I laid out the perfect blueprint, eating plan or training program, people were not getting the results I believed they could, constantly hearing the same excuses. So the promise was to apply self-discipline and commitment to being better, looking to improve each day and each week, knowing that if I could sacrifice short-term pleasures, the results would come. Stop looking for the “answer” or the perfect way; follow the basics, but more importantly apply the character traits that you know deep down breed success. I trained 5-6 hours a week, approx 1-hour session five days a week, but it was my discipline and commitment outside the gym that produced the results. Remember, don't confuse movement for progress. Undeniably, we live in a high performance culture. Consequently, it’s not difficult for us to succumb to the false notion that we only bring God honor when we do great things for Him. Perhaps, it’s in our stillness, sitting at His feet, fully in-tune with our lack and weakness, that God’s fame and magnificence take center stage. From here, we can either surrender to a life of in-activity and idleness in hopes that we aren’t competing for God’s platform or we can give ourselves in a supporting role, though He needs no aid yet delights in our participation. The only one that should be “showing-off” is Him. 💕 Each time he said, “No. But I am with you; that is all you need. #farmerswife I’m hopeful it is not a coincidence that I plan to start writing my book and find out July is celebrated as disability pride month. I have to hope because internal bleeding has knocked me down again. As always I believe God knows best and my faith is in Him and His will. Had I not been struck with a disability I would still be in CA teaching science and math. But God… He had other plans for us. In 2009 I was given a bad prognosis. We planned for the worst and hoped for the best. With a higher chance of dying then living, we planned a way for Scott to finish raising our girls. My hope was to be around long enough to see them into adulthood. The lack of grey hair in the photo gives away it was not taken recently. 😅 We were celebrating our youngest daughter’s high school graduation. Celebrating brings hope while the lack of hope leaves me broken, afraid to dream big, asking for less. Thankfully God knows my heart and has always given me more. I’ve been here long after the girls have grown and Scott learned he loves farm life. I’m still here though my disability continues to steal and restrict me I fight back with faith trusting God’s plans. Coaching is special. It's a role I take seriously. After I realised the impact I could make on people's lives, it changed my understanding and perspective on what I do. I can show people what they are truly Capable of both inside and outside of the gym. These days there are so many people shouting at us what science “proves” and “debunking” everything else. It seems, just like everything else in this world now, that we want things the easier way, the freedom to do what we feel like but expecting above-average results. People can do more than they know, whether coaching a GPP client or a professional athlete, actual failure is further than people think. When most think they are 1-2 reps away from failure, most of the time, they are ten reps away. Massive results require an enormous effort. I understand for those who have their goals lower on their priority that the room for error is larger. But I still believe in quality and following a plan to live a healthier and longer life, learning to practice discipline and consistency. For those who want above-average results, I believe you must live the same way. Following an eating plan and applying discipline and sacrifice that most wouldn't consider normal. Time passes, and the opportunity for learning changes and moves, but if you can choose to go through the journey once, even if it is only 12 weeks, your perspective of life and yourself will change forever. Find a coach who doesn't accept the excuses and lies you have told yourself and believes in you more than you do. If they let you make excuses every time your actions contradict the goals you set yourself in, then they aren't doing their job and don't care. @129healthandperformance #otnmade #powerinweakness #gainzbymak
