The Windows with a View series just added its first 2024 mini-release ✨ This grouping of 6 paintings, titled “Jump into the Water”, is a brief snapshot of my time in Maine so far (less than a year!), as well as my 2024 intention to fully jump into this new life we’re building here (and to go with the flow as we navigate all of the changes and opportunities this year will bring to us). Finished the @presumpscotregionallandtrust and @rei 2023 Summer Trail Challenge last week. It was a super fun, local challenge exploring different nature preserves. -Steep Falls Village Preserve in Standish follows a trail through an old logging area, into a wooded area and then bog/marsh area. The varied terrain was pretty cool! -Hawkes Preserve in Gorham was buggy, but the viewpoint along the Presumpscot River was so pretty in the late morning sunlight. There were a ton of birds singing in the woods as i walked back to the car. I used the Merlin bird app to identify the songs. Found out there was a raven in there making a ton of noise, I thought it was just a funny-sounding crow. -Gambo Preserve in Gorham is a favorite of mine that I've visited many times over the years. Since the White's are a little too moody for our hiking comfort, we decided to keep our adventure more local at the Mill Brook Preserve which is part of the @presumpscotregionallandtrust. It felt like a rainforest with the rainy weather and lush green trees and ferns! The creek was running fast, and there was plenty of mud! Even though this preserve is very close to Portland, ME it felt like we were in a remote forest.
