Introducing the fairy shrimp! 🧚‍♀️🍤🦐 These tiny crustaceans can be found in certain maine vernal pools in early spring (They aren’t able to live in the warmer waters of late spring and summer). They swim in a distinct ‘upside down’ way and can grow to about half an inch to an inch and a half. These ones were on the small end as they were observed in the early spring and were still young. Fairy shrimp eggs can stay dormant in the sediment for years before hatching, which is why they may be present in a vernal pool after not being there for several years. #fairyshrimp #maine #nature #vernalpool #outdoors #maineoutdoors

Looking forward to spending a week in June with the Puffins in Maine again! The end of April is typically the time when they begin laying eggs. Golden light from the summit trail at Holbrook Island Sanctuary last night. It’d been a long time since I’ve done this trail and I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the top. No grand view or anything…just the ocean in the distance but the light that the peak gets is beautiful at sunset. Great weather coming at us for tomorrow evening, just in time for Random Doubles. Sign in by 5:15, we will tee off at 5:20, Ace pot starts out at $162! This tree broke a couple weeks ago in the last big storm, and all the brush has now been cleaned up as of today. We have put in tons of work getting the course damage taken care of and have made great progress. Have you ever been on a road trip? 🚙 Last year for my April spring break my friend @kenzie.bigelow and I went on a week long road trip up Maine to visit Acadia National Park! It’s national parks week so I wanted to share some photos of one of my top 3 favorite parks! It’s one of my favs because it has so many cool hikes & sunrise spots! Motherhood has me slacking on IG posts but when I saw it was Earth Day I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed on what to post 😂 How in the world as an outdoor lifestyle photographer can I choose a series of photos to represent Earth Day from my POV? And then I remembered this moment & these photos. How a rainy walk in a new place with a slightly cranky baby opened up to this 🥹☀️🌈 Do you know how hard I kicked myself for not having my camera on me?
