This was how we kicked off last Saturday at PUSH FORWARD. Imabong Martins, the Lead Consultant at PRINIORA opened with a short welcome presentation, showing participants previous Priniora events which empowered women with 👉 skills for starting or running their small businesses 👉 effective skills for running their homes (see the cooking class on the top right of Pic 1) She also informed them of its other offerings - soft skill training for women, coaching for performance improvement and consulting (this is especially for women who lead women groups/organisations and want to maximize their impact and results) . . . This led to session 1 which she took on BALANCE IN A DEMANDING WORLD. In today's hybrid work world, people work at any time possible. There is the risk of overdriving oneself to meet timelines of clients within and beyond our timezones. This can gradually eat into personal rest and family time, which can lead to an imbalance or other undesirable consequences. She brought a practicable 4-step process to deal with it beginning from 'choosing what is most important to your life now (among many things pulling you)' which then gives you sufficient time to focus on the key things and produce desired results. This solution can be used by career or business women and stay home mums! She also discussed basics of personal finance for women touching on 👉 our 'personal' intangible assets and how they can generate wealth (laying the foundation that every participant has finances physically or potentially). 👉 savings (culture) and it's importance. Using the 50/30/20 rule (popularized by Senator Elizabeth Warren). Imabong showed simple ways to save from our incomes. Savings is important. It is a means of generating the commonly discussed 'capital' and emergency funds for unforseen situations. She ended by urging women to research into investments by reading books and internet articles. MORNING ROUTINE If your lovelies are still waking up at the usual happy time, you may want to allow them continue to wake up then, say their prayers and eat breakfast (the most important meal of the day according to experts). The difference would be that you will now provide fun activities in place of the usual school work. They surely need a break. If they tend to wake up a while later, I think it's okay. Their young bodies are catching up on sleep and rest after the hectic term. DURING THE DAY * Fix in meal times (these lovelies can downplay food sometimes). * Fix in sleep time, rest/siesta time and bedtime. * In between, fix in play and relaxation time for activities they love. Just a few activities per day with breaks in between each, so they can enjoy the fun without being stressed with timelines. * Engage them in drawing it up if your children are younger. As they grow, they even draw up theirs and share it with you. Q and A Do I need to have activities everyday? Not really. You can have activity free days sometimes, when they just do their own stuff ...like baking, creating, play kitchen or singing and dancing mixed with drama😀 What if they miss an activity or two? Except it is a compulsory one like mealtime, let it go Mama and move on😉, its holiday. What if they get bored? Switch things up💕 Variety said William Cowper's poem, is the spice of life. The same things every time can become boring, the same toys or books can bore a person too. Remember that they are growing up and what meant fun last year may not be fun today. So find out what they would love that's beneficial to them and include it. Remember to have lots of bonding time. I determined not to give up., ...not that the thought didn't come when orders were not coming... but because it's what I love doing I just remained there. 2. I go for trainings when the opportunity comes free and paid. I once borrowed money to attend a training, the internet is also my friend. (Thank you for this tip Ma'am👏👏👏) 3. I also went to a business school after a training with @Priniora, they made me see the need and I took an action. (Action!👍) Q6. What kept you going whenever you wanted to give up? 1. Nobody says the road would be easy. 3. Do what makes you happy or you have the passion for. Something you could do without money or being paid. Feel free to drop questions below. INTERVIEW Q1. You are welcome Madam, we are really glad to have you here. May we meet you please? I'm Motunrayo Basorun from Ondo state, a wife, a mother and a baker, and I treasure children. Q2. How did you go into baking? I went to a baking school during my maternity leave after I had my second child. I have always loved baking so when the opportunity came, I used it for the training. About a year after, I resigned and started my baking business. Q3. What were your early days in business like? My early days in business were tough, you know, coming from paid employment to business wasn't easy. Orders were not forth coming so I will bake for friends and neighbors to have a taste of cakes. I baked cupcakes and went to the supermarkets around and I was rejected because they already had their suppliers... although I eventually got 2 and that encouraged me Q4 Did you try out other things that didn't work? Yes I tried other things but they worked. I started selling baking stuff and I'm still selling till today. LIVE ABOVE THE NOISE Negativity whether in form of quarelling, bitter talk and the likes will really reduce your speed. Eagles build their nests high up in trees or on cliffs. Make up your mind not to be caught up in all the squabbles. Aim high, discuss opportunities to grow or impact others positively. 5. YEARLY RESULTS In the work world efforts can be noticed but results are rewarded. Eagles lay eggs once each year. Here's a good question to ask yourself at the end of the day, week or month, "What have I really achieved?" This result-focused approach will help you grow in your chosen feild. 6. Try and try and try Have you read what it takes an eaglet to fly? The mum keeps creating conditions that get it out there till it flies. You're certain about what you are pursuung?
