Feeling back into connection lately, especially being home during the holidays. Slowing down, reconnecting with myself and my rhythm has been refreshing. Despite the work stress still hanging overhead, time with my kids and getting stuck into those long out-off jobs has been a welcome change. These now come in a pack of 12 and in a mini size which is perfect for my boys and a perfect breakfast or snack size for us big kids. Threw in leftover broc, onion, tomato, cheese and salsa. 5 eggs with 2Tbsp of milk was a perfect measurement for the 12 boats! 200C for 10 mins then oven off and cook with residual heat for a further 5 mins so the boats don’t get burnt. Returning to work after maternity leave can be a daunting thought. How will your baby manage without you? And you, without them?! And will it mean the end of breastfeeding? Depending on how old your baby is will determine whether you need to pump or not. If your baby is established on solids and reliably eating, depending on how long you’re away, you may find there’s no need to leave milk in your absence. Not only is it work for you to pump in advance, your baby may not take it, particularly if they’re not used to drinking from a cup or bottle. Your baby is likely to breastfeed lots when you’re back together! Lots of mums talk about it being a lovely way to reconnect after time apart. The first few times you’re away you may need to pump for your own comfort, but your breasts will settle and you may not need to do this long term. If your baby is not yet having solids you will need to leave milk for them. An IBCLC can help you work out how much milk you’ll likely need to leave You can talk to your baby’s carers about ways they can support you both to continue breastfeeding.
