‘Lo efímero’ (The ephemeral) Is a visual diary in which I explore through not only a camera but my publication itself, the concept of “beautiful errors”. The photography experiments with the use of motion blur and over exposure, sticking to my concept ‘lo efímero’ a moment in time that lasts for a short time. For an instante, the second you realised you’ve seen a pretty flower and quickly turn around to see it, the perfect quick shot of your dad having a bite of his cake or the excitement behind those shaky shots of your favourite cupcakes. The publication was an error itself. I made a mistake when sending the pages off to print, therefore when aligning them there were some pages I had to cut more than others for example for the shots made in Polaroid of my cupcakes. Bi-lingual catalogue publication for exhibition ‘Structures of Meaning, Architectures of Perception’ at Abu Dhabi Art international art fair, 2018 Mirroring the themes of the exhibition, the publication acts as a space through which the reader is invited to draw their own connections and conversations between the works on display. English and Arabic texts are playfully presented side by side in differing orientations, encouraging a physical engagement with the catalogue that reflects and builds upon the visitor’s experience in the galleries. A 16-page image section in the centre of the book sits between two sets of Artist notes – one side in English, the other in Arabic. With one language reading left to right and the other right to left, the publication has two front covers, one in each language.
