having these babies after 1+ years without fostering has really been a blessing. they've been the easiest fosters I've ever had, and I'm so grateful. unfortunately, they'll be leaving on Monday to go to their finishing foster due to some really difficult problems that suddenly came up in my personal life. I'm going to cherish the next day & a half I have left with them, because I'm going to have to take another extended break from fostering again which absolutely breaks my heart but sadly I don't have a choice. this guy suddenly stopped wanting to eat the last two feedings, so I supplemented with the bottle. he ate a decent amount, not as much as I'd like but better than nothing. Poppy and Pippa have given us another chance to love again, which I thought was impossible after losing our beloved furbabe Wazzu. These little ladies have also challenged us, but it’s been worth it because their hearts opened to us, too. Pippa’s cuddles and pulling down towels to make a nest and Poppy’s barrel rolls and love of tummy rubs have been cherished moments in an otherwise difficult 2020 and 2021. Took the babies to work, so of course my volunteer (who has 2 cats) had to meet them. Then once word got out, the other 4 volunteers just HAD to say hi to the babies as well. Breeders say they have "mini" or "teacup" pigs. These are both untruths. Raising pigs takes a lot of time, patience, knowledge and the proper environment for a pig to thrive. And there is no such thing as a mini, micro or teacup pig. Breeders use those terms to make money. Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, do not get a pet pig until you've taken the time to research what pigs need and evaluate whether or not you can adequately provide for them. Yes, piglets are freaking adorable! They are amazingly cute! But impulse buys are causing so much pain and suffering! Once they aren't cute little piglets anymore and start displaying natural pig behavior, people want them gone and for someone else to pick up the pieces. Sanctuaries are FULL!!!! As people who dedicate our lives to helping animals, it kills us that we can't save them all!! Please help stop the cycle of buying, loving and discarding these precious beings. If you or someone you know is considering buying a piglet, please (I cannot stress this enough) please research what it takes to be a successful pig parent.
