Update on Tristan💙 I’m very glad I sent Tristan to see Dr Sabshin…I’ve learned to not ignore my gut, because 9/10 times it’s right. He has a physis fracture of his L femur..the one that does not have the wound on it. Just like I suspected. That little bit of swelling and crepitus I found was the fracture. Unfortunately for this fracture there is nothing we can do surgically. It’s a growth plate fracture. All we can do is cage rest and hope it heals. When a growth plate is broken sometimes the leg will not grow anymore. This is a problem for a kitten of Tristan’s age. If his femur doesn’t grow anymore we will have to amputate the leg. Kittens are magical healers though. He has about a month until he will be big enough for neuter and tail amputation and at that point we will repeat X-rays and should have an idea of what his leg is doing and if he can keep it or not. Keep your fingers crossed he can! Tristan also got a MUCH needed bath. I had to wash the little guy 3 times before the water ran clear. I imagine he got himself into a car engine to sustain these injuries…and get so dirty. His wound is already looking much better after a few days of wound care. Thanks to your donations we had his vet visit covered Friday! Now we just need to raise the funds for his tail amputation and repeat X-rays in a few weeks. It will run about $1,000. Unfortunately our sweet preemie boy just passed away. I was hoping he could overcome things but I believe he was coming down with pneumonia from when he aspirated at the shelter. His little underdeveloped body just could not handle that. I’m thankful I got to give him a couple days of warmth and love. He loved to snuggle in my hand get brushed with a toothbrush. Photos like this are my favorite 💗 Marjorie came to us as a tiny baby..just days old. The only survivor of her family. All of her siblings had drowned after a bad Florida rain storm. We don’t know what happened to mama but I suspect she left for higher ground. I wasn’t sure if Marjorie was going to make it…but she did! She’s been with us for 2 months now and she was just spayed yesterday and is now ready to start the next part of her journey and find her forever family. She’s an INCREDIBLY sweet kitten..she was bottle fed and hand raised, she’s very loving to her humans. She adores cuddles and kisses and is always purring. She gets along great with other cats and is becoming friends with the shih tzu puppy in the house. She would be a wonderful addition to any home. Located in Sarasota, Florida. Our little preemie boy is still hanging in there 💙 I’m a nervous wreck everytime I go look in his incubator until I see a little twitch out of him. He’s still sitting at 42 grams..which I’m thankful there’s no loss. I’ve been able to up his feedings to 1.8ml I might try going up another .1 to see if he can handle it ok. Which is basically another drop. But in something this small a drop is a big deal. In this photo you can see his full belly, his skin is so thin and translucent. The light pink/whiteish area is his stomach filled with milk. Fun fact…In creatures like mice and rats they call that a milk band and that’s how you can tell the neonate has been fed! You typically can’t see this on kittens but the preemie has such translucent skin you can see. We will continue to take this hour by hour and hope the little guy keeps hanging on. Hi guys! It’s Daisy May💗 I’m helping foster mama write my first Facebook post! Foster mama had me do this silly photo shoot this morning where I had to wear this hat. She said it made me look cute…what do you guys think? I think I look silly. She said we were celebrating. I think she was trying to embarrass me! She got really excited because she was finally able to turn my incubator down a few degrees. It’s now sitting at 95 instead of 99-100 and she plans to try to bump it down another 1-2 degrees later today…and my temp is still holding steady at 100! In honor of their one week birthday I decided it’s time to formally introduce you to Paris’ babies! Meet Rochelle, Bordeaux, and Marseille! These 3 little babes are doing amazing. They are FAT! They feel like actual potatoes when I pick them up 😂 every day I kind of forget how fat they actually are, especially Marseille. Shes basically a potato with a head glued on and some legs sticking out. Like they are unusually chubby lol. I’m not sure what’s going on with the mamas producing such large kittens this year. Mama is doing incredible too. I know a lot of people were worried about her ability to care for the babies with the rodent ulcer but she’s having no issues. As you can see the eyeball fairy made a quick stop but I think she got called away somewhere else as she didn’t get very far here! Stay tuned to see some peepers👀

You saw I had two boxes from the shelter yesterday…here’s our second new baby. Meet Tristan! This is the first little one they contacted me about…then the preemies came in. They were just slammed with intakes yesterday but reached out to me specifically about these kittens. No one knows what happened to Tristan but he sustained some sort of trauma. They had only told me about a wound on his leg but once I had him in my hands I discovered more. Over half of his tail is dead and infected. He will wind up needing it amputated when he gets neutered in a few weeks. The wound on his leg should heal up with proper wound care and antibiotics. But I do have some slight concern about his legs. He’s not walking quite right. The rescue coordinator told me he was walking fine so they didn’t do X-rays. But he’s walking on his tiptoes on his left back leg. There’s also some mild swelling in his thigh and crepitus in his knee. He’s going to see Dr sabshin tomorrow for some X-rays to see if there’s any fractures. Hoping it’s just sprained and it won’t require any ortho surgery. But it will be what it will be. Definitely wasn’t expecting all of this! Tristan’s care is going to be a bit more expensive than initially expected so we need to start fundraising for his care. His X-rays and exam tomorrow will be about $300 and his tail amputation will be around $800. Tristian is one of 4 expensive surgeries we have coming up this month (we have the 3 kittens needing their eyes removed too) and we desperately need help raising the funds to cover all their surgeries. It was a LONG night…but both the preemie babies are still with us today. Just taking it hour by hour right now. They haven’t lost any weight which I’m thankful for, they haven’t gained any either but that’s ok too. I’m just happy they are maintaining their weight right now. They currently take 1ml each per feed. Their stomachs are so small I’m afraid to try and give any more. So frequent small feedings it is. The little boy (the bigger one at 42g) does want to try to latch to a nipple but after a couple sucks he gets so tired and forgets to swallow and it’s just not safe to feed him that way. So I’m sticking to tube feeding them. I can’t take their temperatures because their butts are literally too small for a thermometer. Which is driving me crazy not knowing their rectal temp. I mean you can scan them but I prefer a rectal temp. So I’m going by how they feel to the touch and how they are responding in the incubator…and how past preemies have been that I’ve actually been able to take the temp of because they’ve been slightly bigger than these two. Their incubator is set at 100, the highest it’ll go. They also have a squishy warmie in there. I call it their water bed. I like these for adding them to the incubator better than the hard heating discs. The little girl rarely ever leaves her water bed..the boy will occasionally hop off it and then crawl back on. So that’s the update for now…just feeding and keeping warm. Please keep sending tons of prayers for these tiny babes.

Miss Daisy May stopping by to say hello! She’s looking cute as ever today💕 She’s been with us two weeks now! Can you believe it? Feels like just yesterday I got this little peanut. She’s come a long way in 2 weeks. She’s up to 179g from 109g. She’s still very small for her age…she’s guesstimated to be about 3.5 weeks old (she even has teeth coming in!) but she’s growing! She actually wound up not going to see Dr sabshin. Her wounds are starting to heal up *knock on wood*. I’m seeing less and less and less discharge and actually seeing granulation tissue which is fantastic news. So we are giving these antibiotics some more time to do their job. I worry more about the risk of hypothermia taking her out of her incubator, even with warmies. She’s just too dependent on 98-99 degree heat still. So better to keep her home in her incubator. We will see how this next week goes but we are taking it day by day with Daisy May. Hour by hour! Please continue to keep this little princess in your prayers as she fights off this nasty infection. I’m gonna start this off with don’t get attached guys…these kittens have a really poor prognosis. But I had to try. These are the smallest live kittens I have ever seen..weighing in at 32 and 42 grams. They are extremely premature. They were turned into the county high kill shelter today and the shelter reached out to me about them..of course I immediately said yes. I know they have basically a 1% chance of living…but I have to try. They are baking in the incubator with the temp all the way up plus they have a warmie. They are getting small tube feedings every hour as their stomachs can not hold much. They’ve been started on steroids and broad spectrum antibiotics. Sepsis is a major killer for preemies. I could see that the bigger of the two had aspirated formula while at the shelter so now I’m on watch for pneumonia. It’s going to be rough. I’m not sure if we will have a good outcome. But I’m going to try my very best for these guys. At least they will be warm, fed, and loved. Please flood the heavens with prayers for them

Sweet Dorothea is looking for her forever home! She thought she had a forever home and has been patiently waiting to go to it..however her adopter keeps postponing the adoption. After over a month of this I finally had to say enough is enough and let Dorothea have a chance at finding the home she deserves. It’s not fair for her to sit and wait and just days before pick up constantly asking to move the adoption again. Dorothea is 3 months old, fully vetted, and super sweet! She had one eye removed and is mostly blind in the other eye but that doesn’t stop her one bit! She is still just as playful and active as any other kitten. This is the main reason for the fundraiser 🧡 His name is Roman, and he's about a year old. He showed up at the right place and the right time as he was getting beat up by a bigger cat and my friend (one of the owners of the cafe, whose real last name, I'm pretty sure, is Doolittle 😉) was able to step in and stop the fight. Once Roman was trapped, he was taken to the vet for a check-up and to see if he was micro chipped (he was not). Roman is not neutered and had some tummy issues and was not eating well for the first few days. He's eating better now, and once he's well enough, he will be neutered, so he will be "ball-less and flawless" and ready for his furever home. He is the sweetest boy! 🥰😻 There are still plenty of peanut butter balls for sale. You can head over to the cafe today to purchase some. And that’s all! Mama Paris shockingly only had 3 little beans in her despite having such a big belly…I mean they were big beans though. I was still surprised to only see three! These big babies this season are throwing off my guessing game lol. So we have two little girls and one boy! I’m SUPER thankful Paris had an easy and safe delivery and had no difficulties. She’s definitely an experienced mama that’s had a few litters before and knew what to do. My mom was with her the whole time and I quickly rushed home from Boca just incase we had any issues. Her delivery went very fast since she’s an experienced mama. I was able to get home just in time to clean up the mess lol. Lucky me! Mama and babies are all doing really well. Paris is taking fantastic care of them. I know some people were concerned about her ability to care for them with the rodent ulcer but she is having no issues. Babies are nursing and gaining weight. They’ll be up for adoption in 2 months! If anyone would like to make a donation towards the foster kittens care it would be so appreciated! Jackson and Avery are back home too…and I’m so glad they’re home before things got worse. They were with the same temp foster Daisy May was with….theyre nice and chunky and obviously were fed well. But something very important got missed. Avery had antibiotics on board already because he had the wounds from the maggots. So he had been given an antibiotic injection prior to leaving. It’s VERY important to check a kitten over thoroughly EVERY day. During the first 14 days I have a kitten they get a full body exam every day. The first 14 days is when they are most likely incubating anything nasty so it’s important to be on the look out for stuff. After the first 14 days I do look overs twice a week on the kittens. Unfortunately the temp foster just didn’t notice…but Jackson’s umbilicus became abscessed. As soon as he was back in my care I immediately noticed it. Drained it and flushed it. He’s now on antibiotics and a topical and it’s looking much better. He will be just fine! The boys are taking their feedings well and their wounds should all be healed up in about a week. First update comes on Daisy May as I know that’s who you all want to hear on most…I have mixed news about her. The good news is she’s currently taking a bottle on her own. She had started to latch before I left and thankfully continued on while I was gone. She’s still purring when I kiss her and love on her, she was definitely happy to see me when she got home. The bad news…I literally don’t know how things wind up getting so messed up. I’m not even getting into it. I’m so upset I can’t even think about it anymore. But Daisy May wasn’t given her most of her meds while I was gone. And now we are dealing with some problems. I found a new abscess on the bottom of her left back leg, an abscess behind her ear, and her wound on her front left foot was filled with pus again. She’s back on her antibiotics now. The abscesses have been drained and flushed and are being treated with silver sulfadiazine. I have messages in to Dr sabshin about this. It’s just been problem after problem after problem I’m trying to fix after being gone for two days. Please say some prayers for Daisy May…I’m worried about her with all this infection popping up. She still has pus draining from the holes in her head too. Right now we are struggling financially, donations have been slow. There’s 6 mamas and babies and 10 orphan babies we are caring for right now. We are flying through supplies left and right. Not to mention there’s some very expensive surgeries coming up. Rocky update 🖤 It was a long day/night and I was awake over 24 hours. I slept a lot today but I still feel exhausted. Donating takes a lot out of you and I definitely needed to be resting last night…not pulling an all nighter. But you do what you gotta do for the babies. When I got home early this morning I dealt with the Paris situation. Then I had to move onto Rocky and his clogged tube. I attempted to unclog it with suction and it wasn’t budging. I couldn’t figure out WHY it would be clogged. His medication doesn’t have anything in it that would clog a tube of his size. My next step was to stick a feeding tube smaller than his current one inside to see if I could pass it through to break through the clog. But I hit something..hard. Then it hit me. Sh*t. It’s a syringe cap. I don’t want to hear any crap about this. I love my mom and I’m so thankful to her for taking care of everything while I was gone. It’s a hard job to do. It’s exhausting. Accidents happen. She didn’t do this on purpose. When giving rocky road his medicine she must have forgot to take the cap off one of his syringes of medication and then when she pushed the plunger to give it to him it wedged in his tube. Then when she went to feed him the pressure of the food lodged it in further. I was a wreck. I was just not mentally able to deal with this at this point. Dr sabshin gave me some instructions how I could probably clear it myself but I was sore, my head hurt, and I had been up over 24 hours. So she took care of it thankfully. Also a huge thank you to Stacy for transporting Mr Rocky Road. So Rocky’s tube is clear now! I slept on and off literally the entire day. I’m still exhausted. If I can keep my eyes open long enough I’ll try to give you some updates on Paris, Daisy May, and let you know how my donation went.
