Jaelyn is relatively new to athletics. He has been training for less than 6 months but in that time he has managed to make not 1 but two state teams! He is from Gympie and I co coach Jaelyn with Bec Brice from the sunny coast! Jaelyn is off to Adelaide to compete in U18 TJ. Remember Qld Athletics Cross Country season kicks off this Saturday afternoon at Minnippi. Would love to see as many TRAQ members as possible there representing Trail Running and showing our younger generation there is a running life after school and to come and give trail running a try. Some of the TRAQ committee will be there. You can choose various distances to run up to 8km and there is even a Masters divisions for 30-49 and even an over 50’s for us older runners. Races are about 3pm in the afternoon, so you can still parkrun in the morning. Great for some speed work over 6 or 8km. Cross Country Qld Athletic Series As mentioned previously, TRAQ are looking to field runners in some of the QA XC events this year to promote trail running. There are eight events over three months from April until June, as well as three championship events. This is open to most ages and runners can choose various distances up to 8km. All participants will earn points for themselves and their club, being TRAQ. Events are on Saturday afternoon so you could also still do a parkrun on Saturday morning, and a longer run on Sunday. You do not need to run every week you can pick and choose your runs. Entry is $12 per person or $36 for families of 3 or more, with most of the funds going to the host clubs. You need to pre-register each week. Event details and registration can be found here: https://www.qldathletics.org.au/competition/ There is no check in, just ensure you arrive with sufficient time to walk or jog the course (before competition begins), collect your bib (look for the yellow "Info" flag) and be at the start area 10 minutes before your race start time. So if you are a TRAQ member we’d love to see you come along and represent TRAQ. If you’ve got a TRAQ shirt wear it, if not we are opening the shop up shortly so you can buy one if you want, or even a singlet. In the meantime wear your trail colours proudly. Keka on to the next 🤝🏾 So after 2 games and not much game time in the second this boy came off crying, worried he didn't get to show them what he had to offer. He was frustrated, upset and angry. We went for a walk and we listed things that worked well in the moments he had and the things he thought he could work on. We finished with me explaining that sometimes they have seen enough, sometimes they don't need any more from you. Sometimes they aren't too sure about you and might miss you, and sometimes you may just miss out. What does this teach us? That your opportunities are not luck they are an outcome of persistence, these opportunities don't stick around forever and you just need to make the most of the ones you get. Be patient trust the process and give it 100% no matter the outcome. And above all trust that the LORD has a plan 💯 You did it Son, you got past stage one and now it's on to the next. As the Paris Paralympic Games draw near, a select group of 20 Australian para athletes are gearing up for their final international competition before the big dance, with the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships taking place in Kobe, Japan from 17-25 May. Less than a year since the last edition, the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships serve as a litmus test for the country’s finest para athletes ahead of the Games as well as a stepping stone for athletes as they compete to secure crucial qualification spots for Australia at Paris 2024. We are thrilled to share that QGSSSA and @moreton_bay_college alumni, Abby Craswell, has been selected for the Women's 100m (T36). “It is an honour to be given the opportunity to represent Australia in the green and gold again. There was so much action at the @qldathletics Cathy Freeman Shield 2024 it was hard to not want to be everywhere. Unfortunately I somehow switched my stabilization switch on my lens and it affected some of my photos especially when I was panning from one event to the other. A little frustrated that I didn’t see it in my view finder, thank you old eyes lol. Still got some fantastic shots but sadly my relay photos were a little average. Live and learn. The 400m races were on serious show and what a perfect shield to show case this. It was also exciting to see the relay men showcasing their form and an U20 4x100m Australian Record to top it all off.
