Tea and Positive Change on International Women’s Day 🎓🍃 This is the wonderful Olivia – pictured three years ago, and today. Last year Olivia became Rare Charity’s first ever secondary scholarship graduate. This year she began her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences! An incredible young woman showing us what is possible when we give talented young people access to education. We truly believe that education is the best way to give young people from tea communities the agency to implement long-term social change on their own terms. Rare Charity funds tertiary scholarships, making sure at least half are for young women. In 2020 a secondary scholarship programme was introduced, as the challenges already faced by girls in completing school were intensified by the pandemic. By funding secondary education, more girls can finish secondary school, so more young women can benefit from the same access to tertiary education as their male counterparts. Vacation day 5 breakfast Freshly pressed orange juice in the cuttest glassware...herbal spearmint tea from the #rareteacompany and locally roasted French pressed coffee. First course: house made croissant so divinely flaky and buttery with house-made jam and fresh fruit salad Mains Lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry compote...choose 1, 2 or 3 pancakes. I took 3, but realized too late that the pancakes are ginormous. Should have ordered just 1😱... but now have a to go box for the road. The pancake had a nice crispy shell, and the inside was so moist and fluffy and seldom do you order pancakes and get them steaming hot. It was so lovely melt in your mouth. Full English Breakfast with 2 scrambled eggs well seasoned with chives, house-made baked beans, new potatoes with dill, bacon and sausage. Should have ordered half... 😱 Picton has been a 5 star food experience in a very cozy town.
