Recording Time @gallagherandturner The exhibition features artists Catherine Bertola, Jane Bown, Anna Chapman Parker, Rachael Clewlow, Alan Hathaway and Nick Kennedy, who play on ways of recording time through observation, mapping, preserving and process. The exhibition also includes a 2024 re-curation of ‘Beyond the Goldmine Standard’, guest curated by @hearn.matthew.j. Beyond the Goldmine Standard was first curated by Matthew Hearn in 2015, responding to the fan-made album sleeves found in RPM Records in Newcastle, it was exhibited there to coincide with BALTIC 39 exhibition ‘The Curves of the Needle’ and Record Store Day. The Goldmine Standard is a widely accepted system for grading the condition of vinyl records and their covers. In 2024 Matthew has invited 20 local artists to explore the implications and creative possibilities in stamping a personal signature onto a Vinyl Sleeve.
