I served as the technical supervisor for this process, which was done at a company in Norway. I also designed the poster. 🔎 Micro-trauma 🔍 How have I injured myself, I don’t recall doing anything? This is a question I hear frequently from clients, who are mystified as to how they become injured without recalling any traumatic event. Whilst occasionally this could be down to alcohol related amnesia, more often than not injuries develop as result of micro-trauma! Consider these more your overuse / overload injuries: The silent assassins. To put it basically, micro-trauma will develop when tissues are under repetitive excess or abnormal stress, that takes the tissue beyond its tolerance level. This can lead to tiny tears and / or inflammation developing in the tissue. Common factors that may contribute to such injuries: 🦶Poor foot mechanics ⚖️ Weight gain 👞 Poor footwear or change in training surface. 🍑 Weak Glutes / Poor Hip Control 💻 Bad working posture. 📈 Rapid increases in training. Common problems I see as a result of micro-trauma: 🔹Achilles Tendinopathy 🔹Shin Splints 🔹Anterior Knee Pain 🔹Plantar Fasciitis 🔹Tennis Elbow 🔹Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy. I spent days and nights staring at the blank page, searching the deepest corners of my mind for answers to the questions: who have I been, what have I seen, and what did I learn? I thought about all the nights I've spent outside, all the times I laid down to cry, and how I took a deep breath every morning and decided to go on. Because what else is there to do? Decide that this is it. I quit, I'm done? If I could find words to justify those feelings I've carried, I could write the thickest of books. I could make you see, hear, and feel at least a tiny fragment of who I am. . . What I have also learnt and endured amongst the moments so extremely painful that I didn’t want to feel or even face as it hurt like salt on a wound so deep it was like it could never possibly heal. The most valuable lesson from all the mess and chaos was one thing: choice. The choices we make in every moment create our outcomes. It's the absolute game-changer. I am not what happened to me; I am what I choose to become. I am not talking about just choice in your general day. I knew it had to be a choice in every part of my life, even the little things. Choices in friends, jobs, lifestyle, thoughts, and decisions about anything. Change your choices, watch your life unfold and transpire, and offer opportunities all around you and to you. Only then did I realise everything was all for a good reason; even in the darkest moments, it was to be me now, just how I am. . . 💉National Infertility Awareness Week 2024💉 This week is such an important time because infertility is such a hard thing to go through. It is something I never imagined I would encounter in my life, and something that is not talked about nearly enough. It needs to be talked about so much more because SO many suffer in silence!! Infertility comes with so much depression, anxiety, anger, resentment, sadness and crying out to God, ‘WHY ME, WHY US?!’ from the repeated negative pregnancy tests, failed treatments and hearing I’m so sorry, but you’re not pregnant 💔 Fortunately, someone a lot bigger than all of us knew that we could handle it all. After 5 years of dealing with the countless appointments, tests, procedures, needles, injections, and failed treatments, our second IVF was successful! We finally heard ‘Congratulations, you’re pregnant!!’ and those were the best words I had ever heard!! We wore orange (let’s call it clementine!) this week for National Infertility Awareness week. It was a long 7 years, one miscarriage, and one surgery before our girl surprised us with her presence. Trying for baby #2 has also been hard, with 2 miscarriages in 2 years. We have been working for the last 4 months to switch insurances so that we can begin IVF next month. We stand in solidarity with everyone out there who has struggled or is still struggling to build a family.
