What a beautiful place! Baird Glacier is located on the Northeast corner of Thomas Bay. We anchored for just a few hours at Scenery Cove, Southeast of the glacier. Holding was questionable so we played it safe and went back to Ruth Cove, on the Southeast arm, for the night. As we approached the glacier we were surprised to see the maze of bergs. From far all you can see is a small section against the mountain and the big square block, as seen in the last picture. We attempted to get in further but no openings at this time. So we beached the dinghy and got a superb view from the hill. Waar we dus af en toe de motor even nodig hadden om boven de 2knp SOG te blijven hebben we ook de 6knp SOG gezien. Ook zijn onze skills met betrekking tot de voorrangsregels weer even afgestoft 😊. Sluis bij Stavoren naar binnen genomen. Heerlijk watersporten... 🇬🇧 Had a nice sailing trip today from Lemmer to Stavoren via the IJsselmeer. Wind very variable between 4 and 14 knots. Ziel ist, dass nach einer Woche alle wichtigen Manöver entspannt (!!) von allen gemeistert werden. (Römisch-Katholisch anlegen, Ankern mit Landleine in Buchten, Längsseits festmachen, …) Der Saronische Golf ist ein wunder(wunder)schönes Revier, daher wird natürlich auch das Segeln nicht zu kurz kommen. Almost every morning we find a flying fish on the deck of our boat. We have covered over 1500 miles on this big ocean and have seen only one sailboat and three ships. These flying fish have to be the most unlucky fish on the planet. How can they jump out of the water at night and land on the deck of our boat? We are the only boat around for thousands of miles. This little guy was only a baby. I don’t know how he managed to jump four feet above the sea and land on our deck. I named him “Lucky” and gave him a burial at sea. Once the plate is tacked into place we weld it from the inside. Then from the outside we grind out the groove to a consistent width and depth.
