Scrapyard challenge on a Saturday morning, a new route to the top of cast mountain, I’d just thrown another fifteen tonnes up the pile and had a small avalanche, it can be quite unstable and a hundred tonne can avalanche down easily. It’s also higher than it looks, it’s as high as I can throw it with the 830. I ended up doing it three times, the drum I put my camera on expanded in the sun and the video had a loud hissing noise running through it 🤦♂️. The second run was the best I think, I don’t think I displaced a single piece of cast. I moved the camera, and 45 gallon drum, to another location for the third attempt. I just thought I’d celebrate being 62 by running up a 5000 tonne pile of broken cast….because it’s there, before anyone asks😂🤣 There isn’t a sensible answer to the question why? Slow motion sprint up the heavy cast pile. Monday morning exercise, we were a bit quiet initially this morning so I thought I’d do my mountain goat impression on a new route to the new high point of the heavy cast pile. I actually filmed this twice, the first time I started a small avalanche 🤣although it didn’t stop me getting to the top. I decided to do it again and when I edited the clip down to one minute for Instagram I thought that the climb looked better slowed down. Fortunately we got busier before I could kill my self doing something else daft😂 I had reconstructive surgery on my right foot two and a half years ago, I had my heel sawn through at 45 degrees and realigned, with big screw inserted, one tendon had ruptured and was beyond repair so it was attached to the one next to it, all from jumping off a wall and going over on my ankle really badly 18 years ago. I walked thousands of miles a year on the hills and mountains after I did it for 15 years and then out of nowhere my serious walking days were over. Seeing as I was messing about in the yard this afternoon, escaping from lockdown, I decided it would be a good time to do a scrapyard challenge that I didn’t get around to doing before the wet weather set in (for six months 🙁) Now it’s been dry for a while I thought it would be safe to have a sprint up the longest face of any of the piles in the yard. It’s deceptive from this angle, it’s a lot further and higher than it looks from here. The pile in the foreground is turbocharger castings. You can guarantee some foundry will want them now that prices are down. They won’t be leaving unless it’s at my price.
