This week we would like to showcase Lella Lombardi for Women's History Month. From 1974 to 1976 Lella competed in 12 Formula 1 World Championship races, finishing 7 of them. in 1975 she became the one and only woman to score a championship point in Formula 1 and holds the record for highest starting number in Formula racing. That number was 208, which was the number of the radio frequency from her sponsor, a Luxembourg radio station. We recognize Lella Lombardi as a true racing pioneer and set the precedent for female racers all over the world. This week we are showcasing Bertha Benz for our Women’s History Month post. Bertha Benz is not only the first woman, but the first person to complete the first long distance trip in an automobile in 1888. The vehicle was the Benz Patent Motor-Wagon with an internal combustion engine. Among the many, many accomplishments she is also the inventor of brake lining, which she created on the first ever drive. She of course is an inspirational pioneer and one of the founders of @mercedesbenz and was inducted into the @autohalloffame in 2016. As California re-emerges from a year of on-and-off pandemic lockdown, San Diego is ready to roll out the welcome mat. On March 16, San Diego County’s coronavirus positivity rate dropped to a level that has allowed the destination to enter a less-restrictive tier assignment for reopening. Museums can operate at 25-percent indoor capacity, and restaurants can now offer indoor dining, also at 25-percent capacity.
